  1. Frankie, Frankie, Frankie - you underestimate me! I did in fact know that The Neck is currently filming the big screen version, and it was the main reason for me reading Bel Ami. Well that and Weave was nice enough to include me in her book ring . I would say you might want to avoid PP&Z, Charm! There are quite a few zombie encounters and said encounters are pretty graphic! Maybe you could read Sense and Sensabilities and Seamonsters instead?
  2. Thanks, Charm! It is a great episode, Chrissy, I agree! Toby was in top form .
  3. I've never read any poems from Falling Up, Kylie, but I'm glad you're enjoying it! For some reason I've only read his books A Light in the Attic and Where the Sidewalk Ends. I wish I was there to listen to you read! I read about 40 pages of Acceptable Risk last night .
  4. I didn't know you watched Vampire Diaries, Kylie! Are you a fan??
  5. Original Fire - Audioslave Call Me a Dog - Temple of the Dog Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes Low Rider - War Torture Me - Red Hot Chili Peppers March of the Camels - White Rabbits Dusty - Soundgarden Diet of the Heart - Phoenix Redemption Song (cover) - Chris Cornell Turn Out the Stars - Bill Evans
  6. I love these books, Ruth! I especially loved the first in the trilogy, so I'm looking forward to seeing it on the big screen too .
  7. Awww, I'm so proud of you *sniff* . I watched another West Wing episode last night - 'Mr. Willis of Ohio.'
  8. Hey there and welcome to BCF, High Jingo! Glad you joined us .
  9. CPK = California Pizza Kitchen Right now I'm eating raspberries that are way too tart for my liking!
  10. Last week's episode was #18 for us, Stephanie. According to Wikipedia there are 22 episodes total, and the CW has renewed it for a 2nd season, yay! (They would be idiots if they didn't, LOL)
  11. Thanks Weave, and thanks for the book too! :motz:
  12. I'm not spoiling anything, but this show does get better and better! I can't wait for it to come on every week - it's so exciting!
  13. Just finishing up my lunch of salad. I cooked up some excellent chicken and portabella mushroom sausages last night and they made a great addition to my salad today!
  14. You're becoming very snotty in your old age . When I get home tonight I'll be having CPK BBQ chicken pizza for dinner.
  15. I decided to start reading an oldie called Acceptable Risk by Robin Cook today, so hopefully it won't disappoint!
  16. I finished Pride & Prejudice & Zombies this weekend, but I'm just getting to posting my review now! Synopsis via Barnes & Noble: So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton
  17. Excellent idea on the Silverstein! They'll be quick reads. I've not seen the Winona Ryder version, but I adore the 1949 film with June Allyson, Elizabeth Taylor, Janet Leigh and Peter Lawford .
  18. Oooh I'm glad you picked up a good copy of Little Women then, Kylie, you're in for a treat! You should then try to see the film version with June Alison (I think that's who's in it). Silverstein's 'Where the Sidewalk Ends' is probably one of my most favorite contemporary poetry books Kylie and I agree, you should bump them up - they are so much fun!
  19. On my iPod today: Killing in the Name - Rage Against the Machine Tell Me Baby - Red Hot Chili Peppers Scream - Chris Cornell Wooden Ships - Crosby, Stills & Nash Heaven's Dead - Audioslave How Soon is Now? - The Smiths Early Autumn - Ella Fitzgerald Kid on my Shoulder - White Rabbits The General Specific - Band of Horses Ain't No Rest for the Wicked - Cage the Elephant
  20. Great looking lists, Kylie! I really enjoy Bill Bryson, and I remember reading Jonathan Livingston Seagull years ago and loving it. Also, woo for Shell Silverstein! His poems are excellent . Have you read Little Women before?
  21. Man, Kylie, how annoying! That woman sounds really rude, saying that to you and then speaking for other people like that. That's what art exhibits are, waiting your turn to see something and being polite in the process. Especially when you have an exhibit like that where there are such well-known pieces that everyone will want to see, you just have to be patient! You can only see so much of a painting from far back or off to the side, you need at least a minute or two to look at it as close as you can (without setting off alarms) and from a nice vantage point. I'm glad you said something to her. I get really annoyed at the museum when people go right up to a middle of a painting and stand there forever. Like they are oblivious that there might be someone else wanting to have a peek. The impolite people I guess are annoying to me.
  22. I love venison as well, although I only have it when my brother is in town for hunting season and decides to share. It's very lean though and tastes yum. I've never had ostrich or crocodile, but I think I can say the only kind of meat I've tried that I didn't like was shark. I've had buffalo once, Cali, when I was little, and remember it being very tasty.
  23. Peanut butter pretzels from Trader Joe's. Best thing ever invented!
  24. Coffee and toast with homemade jam.
  25. I know exactly what you mean, Kylie! Every couple of months the big library by me has a used book sale put on by the elderly volunteers. It's in a huge room full of tables and all the books are stacked with the titles facing up, all facing the same way. So many people I encounter either go the wrong way round the table or lean in over you and it's so annoying. It's not a place for people who appreciate their personal space! For some reason I'm amazed at how many people leave their manners at home that particular morning...
