  1. Sorry I had to ditch last night, Abby, I was nodding off sitting here and I'm up now since I have to be to work at 7, ugh. That sucks about some of your guys' sleeping habits though - that's one thing I don't have an issue with I guess. Anyway! I need to go back and dissect why I hated Stepsister so, Frankie. It was about 5 yrs ago that I read it! I wouldn't mind trying Wicked though, if I can squeeze it in by the time you guys read it . Thanks for the tips about 41st, Abby! I'll let my mom know to avoid it and will myself if I get there this summer. I know I'd move to SF because of the low taxes alone, but I do love being this close to Minneapolis. I haven't been inside the new stadium, but I've driven by it plenty. It looks so pretty! I can't wait until Monday night and the official home opening game .
  2. That place sounds so cute, Abby! I'll have to check it out next time I'm out there. Is it downtown? I think my mom would like it too so I'll have to tell her about it - she'll be there in June for an all-year Washington High School reunion .
  3. Sounds like a neat place, Abby! I'll check it out and come back here so I know who to add as friends .
  4. Yeah, I like Starbucks better too. We have Caribou all over here but I agree with you about the syrup, and they're even more expensive sometimes than Starbucks so why bother? Plus, Starbucks has a rewards program so they clearly rule . When I lived in the cities my apt was across from this cute little coffee place called the Urban Bean. They had the best danish there! Do you guys have those or Dunn Bros coffee in SF?
  5. Okay so I'm just now discovering this Goodreads thing. Should I join? I'm just worried I won't keep up with it .
  6. I'd love to read Grahame-Smith's other books, Cali! I even found out the other day that there is a prequel to PP&Z . Do they have a Seattle's Best Coffee place in that Borders, Cali? I had coffee there for the first time last weekend and it was pretty good. Oh and the white chocolate chip cookies were yum.
  7. Well I'm glad you found it, Cali! Their rewards program is the only reason I buy brand new books pretty much, just because they often have 30 and 40% off coupons they email out . I've heard good things about Maguire's books, I just need to try something else I guess. I loved the writing style of Stepsister, but for some reason really didn't like the story itself. Oh well!
  8. I read bunches of PP&Z when I got home today, which is surprising after 9 hours of work! We'll see how much I can squeeze in tonight .
  9. Even I knew SF had a Borders, Cali, and I don't even live there! Sounds like you made a haul though! I need to try reading Wicked one day. I've only read one Gregory Maguire and I'm sorry, but I hated it . I think it was Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister.
  10. I'm in Minne-so-cold, BookThane, and by the looks of your fave authors list you'll fit right in here! I used to read lots of King back in the 80's, but I'm afraid I've only read a handful of other horror/suspense books since then. Always looking to broaden my horizons though! Again, welcome .
  11. Hey there and welcome to BCF, BookThane! Glad you joined us. What genres do you like to read? Do you have any fave authors?
  12. Is that cereal? Just having a couple pieces of toast with peanut butter for dinner. I couldn't be bothered with more more tonight.
  13. Still Fender or Gibson?
  14. It's excellent, Mexicola! A real gem for sure . I hope you see it again soon! Good choice with the Coen bros. They clearly rock . Last night I watched some recorded episodes of Ghost Hunters and Psych.
  15. *sigh* Frankie, Frankie, Frankie. Are you trying to make me weep?
  16. Fun, Frankie, you'll get to see The Neck in Goblet of Fire! Also, Big Bang Theory - WOO! My fave. A new episode is on for us tonight here, so that's the only thing I have planned to watch.
  17. LOTR: Return of the King I'm just watching it so I can ogle Eomer .
  18. Excellent, Weave, that's it! I love that movie too, it's one of my faves . Your turn!
  19. Read a bit more of PP&Z last night and a handful of pages this morning between coffee and Food Network-ing .
  20. Coffee and a bit of chocolate, of course!
  21. Barefoot Contessa. I love watching the Food Network on the weekends!
  22. I'm a big fan of Eomer, Kylie . I just looked him up on IMDB and apparently he was in The Two Towers and also Return of the King, but *sigh* I missed him. Oh well! I remember seeing The Color Purple when it came out years ago and it was very good. Very powerful though and hard to watch so I haven't seen it since.
  23. Oooh David Cassidy, Kylie, nice . The show was slightly before my time but I used to watch repeats and swooned over Keith, hee. I'm flipping between Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and How It's Made. I've only seen all the LOTR films once but I love this one character and I keep flipping to back to try and see him. So far no luck though .
