  1. "Ash fell from the sky" The Final Empire - Brandon Sanderson
  2. Don't know if anyone saw but for the UK edition of The Wind Through the Keyhole Hodder were gathering pictures of King fans to make up the back cover. I sent mine in and got accepted. But there are thousands so I'm not sure if it will even be possible to tell that the cover is made up of pictures.. will be interesting to see. http://www.stephenkingfaces.com/#!I=7145
  3. Whizzed through 3001: The Final Odyssey. Started Off Season by Jack Ketchum for some good horror. After that I'm gonna start the Mistborn Series.
  4. I gave up on it after two episodes... the kid was incredibly annoying and there was hardly any Robert Carlyle.
  5. Sounds quite interesting... think I will have to give one of them a go. Thanks for the suggestions!
  6. finished Blackout by Chris Ryan, his first book I've read and I really enjoyed it, but I looked up reviews on Amazon and everyone says it is his worst book... must be a good sign. Started reading 3001: The final Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke. Also ordered his biography. Got the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson in the post today as well as A Dance with Dragons paperback copy.
  7. Oh dear... What's wrong with the kindle version?
  8. Got my copy today, it was the right one! Bit of a tome lol.
  9. I watched Game Change, a great film about the McCain/Palin election campaign with Julianne Moore, Ed Harris and Woody Harrelson. Really brings to light the mistakes they made in choosing Palin as the running mate.
  10. Really enjoying Blackout at the moment, not usually into thrillers but this is a real page turner. Just bought the Mistborn trilogy from eBay for £3
  11. Just finished Odyssey Three. Didn't think it was as good as the first two but I still really enjoyed it. I ordered Rendezvous with Rama. I found out that Clarke only wrote the first book of the series then consulted on the rest while Gentry Lee wrote them... they were a lot less acclaimed. So unless I am desperate to read more of the same series I won't bother with them.
  12. Bought The Kite Runner from a charity shop today Also finished 2061: Odyssey Three, not as good as the first two but still very enjoyable.
  13. Do you recommend Chris Ryan? I got a few of his books from a charity shop a while back and I am just about to start Blackout
  14. I haven't yet but I'm sure I will soon when the easter back log filters through. Glad to hear it I'll let you know if mine is the same.
  15. Thanks, do you know if it is starting right from the start any time soon?
  16. I have not read the second book yet, but after this season is over I'm gonna go through them all. I do love Tyrion and Arya. I know what you mean about Stannis and Melisandre, I am not too keen on them at the moment but I'm sure their characters will improve.
  17. Really wanna see this show! Does anyone know if it is starting again on TV soon?
  18. I know what you mean, I think it is very easy to miss an author or a title on a bookshelf when they vary so much in size/colour/font etc,
  19. Overall I did like the film, very enjoyable. Two things bugged me though, firstly, which many have said, a film about children fighting to the death should not be a 12! Secondly
  20. Has anyone been watching it? really good so far, lots of new characters to enjoy. Can see why the second book is called A Clash of Kings. Some series suffer with so many simultaneous story lines at once, rare that you enjoy all of them but all of them are interesting in GoT. Want to see lots more of Daenerys and co. What are your thoughts?
  21. Got me really interested in this now, acccording to amazon Tropic of Cancer was banned in the UK for 30 years.
  22. Interesting topic by the way!, I found this: http://en.wikipedia...._by_governments I can only see five books banned in the UK, and three of which were novels... The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall, Banned in 1928 due to lesbian theme, republished in 1949. and Ulysses by James Joyce which was banned for about a decade. The last being Lady Chatterley's Lover of course. It also says that 1984 was nearly banned by the UK in 1960.
