  1. I got a book bargin at the supermarket today. I bought a hardback copy of 'The Passage' by Justin Conin for €7.90! I still have loads of books and ebooks to get through, but I couldn't resist buying this!

  4. As a piece of marketing, 'Blair Witch' was brilliant. The trailer and website were set up to look like the footage was real. Also I think that there would have been more of an impact, if the film had only been released on video/dvd. This is because it would have been as if the film ,was part of home movie footage.
  5. I went to see 'The Blair Witch Project' with a friend who had bought into the promotion of this film. She was terrified of it, but I wasn't scared at all (which is unusual because I'm a real wimp). The sequel to this film is absolutely dire. I was actually laughing throughout it, even though I was supposed to be scared.
  6. I'm pleased that the mornings are warming up now. It makes getting up so early a lot less difficult

Amen to that. I really dislike winter mornings.

I hate waking and putting the lights on! It's getting lighter by the day now

  7. I really want to read this novel. It's funny that you should mention that this is a Christmas story and would be better to read it around that time of year. I have a friend who ONLY reads 'A Christmas Carol' around Christmas time. She says that she can never read a winter story in the summer, because the atmosphere is wrong. It's an odd theory, but I might try this!
  8. Sunday Snippet I'm really not sure what to make of Barbara Erskine's 'Time's Legacy'. Like the main character of the story, I can't quite decide who she is (she is a priest, but has done a History degree and dabbled as a journalist!?) and as a reader, what sort of book this is supposed to be, as it has so many themes running through it.. The funny thing about this, is that even though I would normally have put this type of book down by now, I'm finding this fascinating. This may turn out to be complete drivel, but I'm curious to know how this is going to pan out. Have you ever read a book that was muddled in its writing, but for some reason, wanted to find out the outcome? Here's a 'snippet': Page 203- ' Aware of Ben's scrutiny, Kier lifted his hand restlessly and brushed his hair back from his forehead. Then he sat forward in the chair, his elbows on his knees. 'I expect you have been given some kind of garbled fabrication of what happened between Abi and myself?' 'Time's Legacy' by Barbara Erskine
