  1. I just started reading it. Not sure I'm all that excited. It's certainly not un-put-down-able in my opinion. But if it's vampires (which I didn't realize until I re-read this forum) I might persevere.
  2. It's probably because of how cheap kindle books are. When you can get books for under a pound or just over then why pay £7.99 for the same thing? If you have a kindle then it doesn't matter whether it's a 'treebook' or an e-book you get the same story. I actually visited my local Waterstones store this morning and a book that I know is £6.99 on kindle was £12.99 to buy in hardback. Why on earth would I pay double the price? Why should I? I think more people will be opting for kindles in the future. Especially now Tesco is selling them.
  3. It depends on what kind of horror you're into. Something one persons finds scary, another won't. A couple of the best horror novels that I've read are: (I'm trying not to go with the obvious ones ) The woman in black by Susan Hill Apartment 16 by Adam Neville 362 Belisle St by Susie Moloney The black Angel by John Connolly Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice If I'm entirely honest I've never read a book that really scared me, but I like books that I can get lost in. Hope this helps.
  4. If I'm looking for new books/authors then I always look at the reviews. I try to read one of the 5 star reviews and one of the 1 star reviews. I like to be able to see different opinions and to get a feel of the pros and cons of the book. I don't often buy a book that has a lot of bad reviews, unless it's part of series I'm reading or by an author I like.
  5. I really liked this book. I also enjoyed the original film. I did feel that it didn't quite capture the uniquely chilling and strange atmosphere that made the book special. To be honest, I can't help but feel that an American remake will take away even more of that.
  6. I havn't enjoyed every SK novel that I have read, but I have liked the majority. My favorites are: The shining, Dream catcher, Needful things and Salem's lot. I also really enjoyed Duma Key, Under the Dome and The Dark half. I like the ones that are proper horror novels, I guess.
  7. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that hated the birthing house. I got less than half way through before I couldn't stand anymore.
  8. I've just ordered stinger and the thirst from amazon market place. Didn't like the sound of boy's life but those others sound good. They all had alot of 5 star reviews too.
  9. I love the mortal instruments series - I didn't realize that they were meant to be y/a when I started reading them. I'm pleased because I probably wouldn't have bothered with them and I'd have missed out. Havn't read clockwork angel yet, but can't wait for city of fallen angels.
  10. new books by: cassandra clare adam nevill jonathan kellerman terry pratchet scott lynch
  11. I bought the first horror/classic mash up in a 3 for 2 offer. I thought that it would be quite amusing. I think I read the first chapter before I couldn't stand anymore. I absolutely hated it.
  12. I've read the first 4 books or so in this series. Then I got bored with it. I think that's partly because they were just too short. By the time you'd got into the story it was over. The characters could be fleshed out much more if they were longer. Plus there's only so many times a few teenagers can be attacked by vampires and survive it all unscathed.
  13. I've read a couple of the Dresden files - the last one I read was absolutely terrible. Luckily it was from the library. It was just plain boring. It's a shame because the concept of the series is good. The stories just need to be better. I much prefer the Kate Griffin series about the sorcerer Mathew Swift.
  14. I hate the gap. I can never decide what to read next. I have so many books waiting to be read and I still buy more. I try not to think about too much.
  15. I got a kindle for xmas. I love it. I still read 'treebooks'. To be honest the most pressing reason that I got a kindle was the space issue. I live at home with my parents still and I only have one room to fill with books. My shelves are stacked 2 rows deep, I have books in cupboards, under my bed....It was getting out of hand. I've got a couple of hundred books on my kindle and it takes up less space than even 1 paperback. I've got the cover with the light too which is fantastic. I've tried a couple of different book lights and they were just annoying, but the kindle cover is perfect.
  16. The Lord of The rings - Tolkien Interview with the vampire - Anne Rice The Shining - Stephen King Every dead thing - John Connolly The Heroes - Joe Abercrombie
  17. um...a little bit yeah. I think you can ignore that though because they're so well written. The characters are some how able to be believable and unique at the same time. The story really revolves around the people - any blood and guts is secondary. Best served cold might be a little too gory if you don't like that kind of thing though.
  18. I keep a book journal because I read so much that I forget what I've read and who it was by. So I can tell you accurately just what I have read since the beginning of the year: 2011: 33 Jan: 15 Feb: 10 March (so far) :8 7 were repeat reads. 7 were from the library. 20 were on my kindle e-book reader.

    Hi

Tolkien 3.John Connolly 4.Joe Abercrombie 5.Stephen King I also enjoy painting, doing my nails and listening to music.
  20. Oceansoul is a song by Nightwish. Here's the lyrics: One more night To bear this nightmare What more do I have to say Crying for me was never worth a tear My lonely soul is only filled with fear Long hours of loneliness Between me and the sea Losing emotion Finding devotion Should I dress in white and search the sea As I always wished to be - one with the waves Ocean Soul Walking the tide line I hear your name Is angels whispering Something so beautiful it hurts I only wished to become something beautiful Through my music, through my silent devotion.
  21. I have 4 tattoos. All on my lower arms and my hands. I have a Lord of The Rings inspired tattoo - the Evenstar necklace and Aragorn's sword. I'm planning to get 'Born This Way' done in a few months. Still deciding on font and size though.

  23. I've had The God Delusion waiting to be read for a while.
