  1. Charity shops are good for cheap books too. I've read The Poet. Was a little disappointed by it, but I won't ruin it for you by telling you why.
  2. My local library is great if you like chick lit and books about the war. If you don't then it's a bit of a waste of space. The fantasy and horror sections are teeny tiny and shoved at the back in the reading area. Every time I go in they've shrunk a little bit more.
  3. I have both read the book and seen the movie. Couldn't put the book down. Loved it. The film was good, but not as good in my humble opinion.
  4. Love love love Apartment 16. really enjoyed banquet for the Damned as well. He has a new one out in May I think. Will definitely be buying.
  5. The shining for me. More recently I read Apartment 16 by Adam Nevill - that was creepy.
  6. Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors. I love Louis. The vampire genre is one of my favorites, although it very hit and miss. I've read the twilight series and I have to agree with others and say that you simple can't compare it with the Vampire Chronicles. It's entirely different. Team Edward all the way, but he's no Lestat. I really enjoy the Paris Immortal series by S.Roit. That's a little like Anne Rice.
  7. The Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice.
  8. I recently discovered Terry. I think I've read about a dozen of his book in the last couple of months. I love them. My favorites so far are Reaper man, Small Gods, The last Continent and Witches Abroad.
  9. Joe Abercrombie is very good. Especially his latest: The Heroes. It follows various characters in a 3 day battle. It's more about the people than the fighting. I found it impossible to put it down and read it in a day. Cassandra Clare is also good. Her mortal Instruments trilogy is fab.
  10. I have this waiting to be read. I must admit the size is putting me off a little. It's kinda daunting. I think I'll read it soon though.
  11. I've got a couple of Robin Hobb novels waiting in my 'to-read' pile. I picked them up cheap from amazon. Are they really that good? I know she's a very popular author, but that doesn't really mean anything nowadays. I often find high fantasy difficult to get into. It's very difficult to create a convincing world from scratch. I don't think many authors do amazingly well. Is Hobb one of them?
