  1. I have all three of the Keeper of the Light books on my TBR pile. I didn't realise I had all three.....for some reason I was convinced I only had the second book. I have to make sure I read them in the correct order! The Lover's Dictionary sounds a bit strange. Is it a proper story with a plot, or does it just use dictionary definitions to discuss the relationship?
  2. Have a great reading year, Ian. I read The Passage when it first came out, but I have forgotten most of it. I think I will have to re-read it before attempting the sequels.
  3. Yes, that's the one. I still haven't finished The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. I'm at 92% and I should finish it tonight.
  4. The new Star Trek 3D movies are on hubby's wishlist, and a few of the others we bought were sci-fi, so it bodes well. I've never seen a full length movie in 3D, so really curious to what I will make of it!
  5. I somehow ended up on the PS4 playing Fallout 4. Oh good, hopefully I will get on well with it.
  6. The heaviness comes and goes. It's not a book that you can read quickly, because so much is going on that needs to be taken in. I'm going to read more this morning, but I keep getting distracted by all sorts of things on the internet.
  7. Does anyone here have any 3D movies that they have really enjoyed? We've never used that feature on our TV, but over the weekend we have bought some 3D glasses and loads of 3D movies on Amazon (all yet to arrive). I hope we enjoy them, or we have just wasted a fair bit of money. One of the ones I bought was The Hobbit (all three films) and I'm really looking forward to watching that!
  8. I read the previous spoiler from Peacefield, but that didn't give much away. No, I've managed to avoid reading your spoiler, even though it is revealed when I quoted your post. I deleted it from the quote thinking "Don't read it!! Don't read it!!" So, safe for now.
  9. I finished Stolen Child last night. Enjoyable but it dragged on a bit too long. I managed to read for about 3 hours solid with no interruptions....can't remember the last time I managed that! I should finish The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay today, and then I will be starting Apple Tree Yard by Louise Doughty. I also hope to read more of A Million Years In A Day. If I don't pick it up soon I fear I will lose momentum with it.
  10. Have a great reading year, June.
  11. Have a great reading year, Autumn!
  12. Great to see you here again, Kay! Some books from your TBR pile that I have really enjoyed: Atwood, Margaret - The Blind Assassin Steinbeck, John - The Grapes of Wrath Michel Faber - The Crimson Petal and the White Michel Faber - Under the Skin Alex Garland - The Beach Stephen King - The Stand And on your wishlist you have Ham On Rye, which I read and enjoyed last year. I hope you have a great reading year!
  13. Two fried eggs, a grilled tomato, a hash brown and buttered toast. I was hungry, and that hit the spot!

  19. I hope you have a great reading year, Angury.
  20. Thank you everyone for your well wishes for this year.
  21. Sorry about the abandoned book, Athena, but sometimes it has to be done and you will feel better for it. Alone in Berlin is on my TBR pile, so looking forward to reading your thoughts on it. The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay is getting a bit heavy going so I've put it to one side to read something a bit 'easier'. I've settled on Stolen Child by Laura Elliot. No idea why I bought this, but it's doing the trick nicely. Easy to read and fast-paced.
  22. I bought this one over Christmas, so I look forward to reading it. Sounds like there's no quick solution for breaking habits though.
  23. Thanks for the heads up, Brian. I will keep an eye out for it, for sure.
  24. ^ This sounds like an interesting read. I also like the cover!
