That was my husband; that's what we call it coz that's exactly what it's like.

Yeah, his tail goes mad when he's looking for his ball. It goes in circles really fast. It's very funny to see.
He does love a good swim, and his coat is soooo soft the day after (even if it does smell a bit
).

Frankie, that's a gorgeous dog. Sounds like you had fun with her!!
Athena, I hope Pamuk will be better without needing surgery.
Here is another video we took of Reuben yesterday, back at the woodland.

A chocolate eclair.

Such a perfect day today. We took Reuben out to the woods again and he played around in the streams. I'm aching though - not used to walking for so long. We really have to take advantage of weather like this when we can, as true to form they are forecasting rain for tomorrow.

Great article. I haven't read them all yet, but I'm a bit surprised about The Life of Pi having the chapters in a different order in the 1st Canadian Edition. It's been a while since I've read that book but I would have through re-arranging chapters to be a pretty major thing (especially in terms of continuity).

This Book Will Save Your Life 3/6
A. M. Holmes
There was so much hype about this book several years ago so when I started reading it, I was expecting something very deep and moving, and life-changing. Needless to say I was disappointed (could be my fault for believing the hype) and never ended up finishing the book. In fact, I don't think I even made it half-way!!
Quantum Theory Cannot Hurt You 5/6
Marcus Chowns
I've added this to my wishlist as I like science books that are communicated for the layperson.

As soon as I saw that cover, I thought of Cath Kidston! We were only talking about her at work last week; someone mentioned her, but the rest of us hadn't heard of her so we looked at her bags/clothes on the website. Not to my taste, I have to say, but at least it's distinctive!

Nice day yesterday, so we went to the beach with Reuben. We may go out with him today through the woodland as it looks like a nice one again.

I hope you had a fun day, Frankie!
I had to google images of that breed as I've never heard of them before. They're gorgeous with their curly fluffy fur!!
Apparently Labradoodles are allergy-free dogs as well; they're very cute looking as well!

'The Distance Between Us' by Maggie O'Farrell.....at least I hope I haven't read this one!
I know I've read this one, but I can't recall anything about it!
Haven't moved any further along on The Crimson Petal and the White due to other stuff.
I shall get there though, I shall!!!

Hi Lauren and welcome!!
I know what you mean about getting blank faces when talking about books.
I'm a fan of Margaret Atwood too, especially Alias Grace and The Blind Assassin. She's a great author.

It is a hollow ball - I don't know why I wrote 'solid plastic', when I meant hard plastic.
Think I've already gone potty!!

The sinus clearing sounds grim, but glad you got it all sorted now!
There was also an English copy of The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga and an English copy of Graham Greene's The Captain and the Enemy. The White Tiger is a challenge read, and I've never read any Graham Greene, I think, and have been curious.
I read The White Tiger last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. You can find my review here. I was hesitant to start it because I didn't think it would be my thing, but it grabbed me pretty early on. I gave it 9/10.
I don't think it was invented for anything - as far as I remember, it's simply a contraction of the Middle (or Old?) English words for 'fourteen nights'.
I've never heard that before; I love bits of trivia like that - thanks for sharing.

Great review of The Dinner, but it sounds like it would be a disturbing read. I've added it to my wishlist, but I think I'd have to be in a certain mood to read it.
-
Mainly because it's solid plastic, and when it bashes on wooden furniture it leaves dents or takes paint off.
And it's soooo loud as well; drives me potty!

Much as I lovethe sunny days there is something about a walk in the rain and that wet dog smell after..
I don't mind the wet dog smell, but I hate walking in the rain. Maybe it's because I wear glasses and it is such a pain to not have clear vision. Even with a hood on, I still get spotty drops on my specs.

Haven't done much reading lately - still only about 70% through The Crimson Petal and The White. I have my exams in 5 days, so after that I shall be freeeeeee to read as much as I want. So hopefully I can participate in the Reading Circle Thread before the month is up.

I don't know if I already said this before, but in one of the Reuben films that I've watched he's chasing this little plastic ball on some terrace. I like it that the ball's plastic, because it's slippery against the terrace floor, and when Reuben goes near it and starts to push it, the ball moves incredibly fast and it bounces off to all directions! It seemed like a real good workout for Reuben, it's like the ball had a mind of its own
That's one of his favorite toys but we can only let him play with it outside as it is so loud and it damages furniture.
Also because it's so big he struggles to get it in his mouth and often it just goes shooting off along the ground.
Bobblybear, Reuben must be a real fun.
He certainly is; he's very entertaining to watch. He's got so much personality and intelligence.

Oh dear, I guess Wool isn't necessarily all it's hyped up to be.
I shall move it down my wishlist then (or wait until it's available from the library).

Sausages, roasties and veg. We meant to have that a few days ago but had a Macca's instead.

I hope Viola gets better soon, Eleonora!
Frankie, Reuben probably does have a ball in his mouth. He always carries his around when we take him out for a run. He carries it home too, which is adorable to see.
I think it's the retriever in him as he's always carrying things around at home (socks and slippers usually). My hubby gave him a cheap teatowel and he loves running around with that. The other day, he went to the cupboard and pulled out another teatowel too.

I'm only partway through Wings of Liberty, as I just haven't had the time to devote to it. I bought it when it first came out as I was a huge fan of Starcraft I. I shall have to pick it up again at some point (probably start over), though I don't know where I'll find the time as I plan on playing loads of games on my 3DS (when I get it!).

Anyone watching this current series? What a group of bitchy candidates!
I had to laugh at the last episode. Fancy trying to sell beer to a pub and not even bringing a sample with you, and telling the publican he can 'sniff the empty bottle' to decide if he wants to buy some.
So cringeworthy!

Our previous dog Max, wasn't very good with people. He was fine with family and those he knew, but I had several embarrassing moments when I was walking him and he would bark and lunge at someone on the other side of the street.
I think it may have come from when he hurt his back quite badly, and couldn't be walked for a while. He also developed a phobia of going outside (even into the garden!) for a while, bless him.
Reuben on the other hand, loves people. Whenever he sees someone, his whole body starts wiggling, he gets so excited. It's so much easier having a people-friendly dog; I never have to worry about him doing something dangerous, and because he's so cute he does get quite a few people coming up to him on walks, wanting to stroke him.
