Great review of On Beauty. I really enjoyed White Teeth, and keep meaning to read NW, but for some reason I seem to have ignored this one.
It sounds like an interesting read, so that's another one on my wishlist!

I have Un Lun Dun on my wishlist. Someone on here mentioned it a couple of months ago and I thought it sounded so fantastically intriguing!

Feeling a bit lacklustre about The World's Greatest Idea by John Farndon. I was hoping it would focus on more tangible ideas, rather than things like Epic Poetry, Marriage, and Qi.
I've picked up Safe House by Chris Ewan for my fiction read. It seems ok so far.

Hi Elizabeth and welcome to the forum!
Microbiology and anthropology both sound very interesting! You like a wide variety of genres, so no doubt you will soon be adding loads to your wishlist!

I call them middle aged to spare their feelings! No need to thank me.
Cheeky!!!

Nice review of The Black Dahlia. Another one I'm going to have to add to my wishlist!
-
Was this your first time reading Adrian Mole? I would recommend the whole series. Great stuff, and can be read time and a time again
I read it when I was an early teenager myself, and didn't like it or understand it. But reading it now as an adult, I enjoyed it and 'got it'. Aside from describing people in their 30's as old (
) it was great!

I have The Lady & the Unicorn & Remarkable Creatures on my TBR pile as well so i hope they come out on the enjoyable side rather than the mediocre one
I haven't read The Lady and the Unicorn, but I did enjoy Remarkable Creatures.

I finished The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4. Very amusing stuff.
Now I'm reading The World's Greatest Idea by John Farndon, which is a non-fiction from my reading plan.

I like the two Tracey Chevalier books I have read, so hopefully Falling Angels will be just as good. From the sound of things, it will be!
I'd like to hear what you think of The Long Song, when you get around to it. I really enjoyed Small Island and Never Far from Nowhere.

Nice review, Tunn. I agree with you that there were questions unanswered. I would have liked to read more about what happened from a more wholesome/global point of view, rather than bits and pieces here and there. I definitely preferred the interviews with the civilians rather than military personnel. The military ones in my mind all started to sound alike.

Is it good so far? I have it on my wishlist but I haven't found it in the library yet.
It was quite good. Not the most brilliant book I've read, but still pretty good.
I'm now about to start The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4 by Sue Townsend.

Hello Satisfied_Mind, and welcome to the forum!

Green Tea with a hint of Jasmine (so the box says!).

I have periods where I love to cook and try new recipes, but usually I stick to our routine meal plan. It's just easier for shopping and planning. Occasionally though, something will catch my fancy or they will talk about something at work and I'll give it a go. But for the most part, I tend to stick with what I know (which isn't a great deal
).

I have the same question as Janet. If and when my Kindle dies on me, I'll definitely be getting a new one, but it's a choice of the regular one or the Paperwhite.
-
Read a bit more of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. I really hope to finish it this weekend.
-
I read Eleven last year (or maybe the year before). I thought it was a pretty good read.
I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on World War Z.

I've added NOS4R2 to my wishlist. I like that it spans 30 years - for some reason that appeals to me. I have to admit to not getting very far with Heart-Shaped Box, and since then I haven't even bothered to take note of anything else he has written. This one sounds good though, so I shall keep an eye out for it.

You've summed up the same reason I didn't like Brick Lane. I just couldn't stay interested even though the blurb suggested it had everything that I would enjoy. I never ended up finishing it - it was just such a struggle!
