  1. I know I am way behind everyone else with what I am reading but I have just finished 'The Thirteenth Tale' and thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the unbelievable, although I must admit the first few chapters were hard to get into too, but I stuck with it and then had problems putting the book down. I half guessed the end but did not get it quite right, so that has to be good. In my younger days, says the OAP, I was a great fan of John Saul and Virginia Andrews, and their books are not believable either. I am not too sure what that says about me.

    World Cup 2010

It will always be England for me.
  4. I have just read this as my first ' I am now retired and can read again' book. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Dawn French's humour shows throughout the book but there is a serious thread running through it as well. I loved reading about her chilhood , teenage years, her family and also about her adult years. Thank you Michelle for introducing me to this book. Oh well on to my next one now. Looking forward to it.
  5. Mac, it sounds like you had a great time as a musician, and how exciting to be at all those Beatles conventions. An honour too for you to be asked to play. I am quite envious. I remember Cilla Black well,as a young pop star. Use to have an album of hers but dont know where that went. ' Brilliantly crafted songs.'.............How right you are.
  6. I saw the beatles live when they were a back up group for Billy J. Kramer in the early sixties, or maybe the very late fifties....can't remember now . They were not at all famous then. I just love them. I was a young teenager when they started out....oops showing my age lol. My favourite song is' Michelle ', thats how my daughter was named, and my favourite album is one thats not that well known,' Beatles for Sale '. I do prefer their early works but like them all.

  10. Just about to watch the Grand Prix. I always support the British guys whatever team they drive for but this year its the same one, so I have to support Mclaren. This will probably upset a few but I cant stand Schumacker. I got fed up with him winning all the time and was pleased when he retired. I never expected him to return.

  22. Hi I am Denise and use to be an avid reader. However due to a busy working life I have not done much reading lately. I am now retired and looking forward to being able to get my head into books once more. No need for me to join the library though as I am Michelle's ( the founder of the forum ) Mum, and I just have to go to her home for my library . I look forward to getting to know some of you and browsing the forum. Happy Reading
