Dont know if this has been covered before, (apologies if it has), but I just thought I'd like to ask if anyone has been kind of 'bowled over' by an actors rendition of a book character?
I watched Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince last night for the 2nd time & was really inpressed with 'Jim Broadbents' rendition of the character Horace Slughorn. He was exactly as I envisaged when reading the book.
Similarly 'Andy Serkis' as Gollum in LOR.
Anyone else that springs to mind with yourselves?
Regards,
Jim.

Hi all from 'up north'!
Late developer in the reading stakes I suppose; currently reading Beneath the Bleeding. Quick look on the sparse shelf shows authors Dan Brown, Val McDermid, JK Rowling, Jesse Kellerman, James Patterson, Peter James, Mark Haddon, Lee Childs, Andrew Davidson...(How do you get inspiration to write a book like 'The Gargoyle')! Blew me away that one.
Funniest book ever read was 'Bored of the Rings'.
The 'Cutting Room' currently on mp
Other hobbies, abstract photography, my Mini Schnauzer 'Norman' & better not forget the 3 granddaughters currently ages 6/4/1!
This looks an interesting place & hopefully will give me a bit more direction on my next library visit rather than choosing 'willy nilly' & being disappointed.
Cheers,
Jim.

Thanks again folks,
Just come back from the library with my 1st Ian Rankin & Stuart MacBride books, also Philip Pullmans Trilogy; 1984 & The Time Travellers Wife requested for the future. Librarian was quite impressed at my 'homework'! Thanks for the direction in the 'books everyone should read' thread.
Jim.
