In USA politics, basically, Republican's are "Tory's" & Democrat's are "Labour" ("ish", mid-left is more correct I believe).

The Amber Spyglass is the best of the three imo, (close call) I loved it, I hope you do too when you feel ready to tackle it, don't let the size put you off.
I wanted it to go on much more, especially in the Mulefa's world.
Thanks for the encouragement; I have renewed it from the library & will probably commence sometime mid - end of may; just need a complete change now; Rankin, Pratchett or Niffenegger? Decisions; decisions!

Struggled to the end of 'The Subtle Knife', found it hard going. Need a rest before tackling 'The Amber Spyglass'.

Certain parts of the NHS; (No Hope if you're Sick); 'Wrightington Hospital in particular whom it seems have a policy that each time you phone it is mandatory for it to ring at least 30 times before it's answered, main reception included!

2012. Wasn't the 'epic' I was expecting; was 'OK', wouldn't watch it again though.

You were right; bang on in fact; the young ones arrive 1st; as you always said, "how come all the bad things happen to the nice people"?..
Only 'down there my son; only down there'!
Anyway; how come it took you 60 years to get here? That tell you something does it?
Anyway; welcome to eternal reality!.....

Commencing part two of Northern Lights. Could this trilogy be as good as the Harry Potter books?
May well be!

Just finished '1984'. Stunned / staggered at the parrallels I can draw as I genuinely work for a 'control freak' & 'mental bully'.

Can certainly picture my boss being top man at Big Brother!

Just finished Flesh House by Stuart MacBride. Blimey; cracking read I thought; 5 days it took me; that's light speed for me! Bit shell shocked I think:blush:
Great story, great characters and surprisingly amusing in parts.

Gary Oldman as the bent New York cop in Leon.
I like Paddy Considine in most things.
Coming back to Trainspotting I loved Ewan Bremner as spud just as I imagined him from the book.
Gary Oldman..Leon, yep, remember that now, & in Harry Potter as Sirius Black..
Top actor..

I love Mr Carlyle in anything!
Although I love his Lecter, I think Brian Cox should take the crown ~ 'Manhunter' captures his intelligence and charm in a way that the later films didn't quite achieve.
I'm also listening to 'The Cutting Room', converted to mp3; narrated superbly by Robert Carlyle. Well worth getting hold of.

Read somewhere this week that Stephen Hawking, famous Scientist; sorry, 'Applied Mathematician & Theoretical Physicist' to be correct, is strongly advising against humans seeking out extra terrestrial life forms. Leave well alone & remain inconspicuous was his advice!
