  1. Deadlight is currently £2.49 on Steam until November 1st. Just sayin'
  2. Still haven't got Path of Exile running. I think it's up to about 15 patches now. Why it doesn't just auto-patch up to the latest version I don't know. Instead you have to log out, update, log in, attempt to launch the game, then get a message saying it needs a patch, log out, update, log in, attempt to launch the game, rinse and repeat It had better be good when it runs
  3. Of course, if you'd read it when I sent it to you . . .
  4. . It's a side-scrolling platform survival horror game. I think Currently trying to get Path of Exile running on my pc. So many patches needed to get it going But it's free, so shouldn't complain
  5. I wish I could remember all the detail to discuss it properly now. Gives me an excuse for a re-read, I suppose
  6. You're welcome! And tut tut. And tut tut. That's one of the reasons I love it - it lulls you into that feeling just to the tipping point, and then pulls itself back and kicks everything up several gears I think there's an element of truth in that but I thought it was something that he 'grew' out of as he went along, as he changed as a person. I wonder if that was the set up for the sequel he was writing when he died. Yeah, some of his early dealings were pretty creepy and/or hedonistic. Again, I liked that he grew out of that and changed Nothing wrong with a negative positive review Shows you took the time to give it some thought
  7. Dawn of the Dead (2004)
  8. Yeah, they started to create the world to use when they were playing a Dungeons & Dragons-style roleplaying game back in the early 80s
  9. Glad you enjoyed it, Tim. I think it's my favourite of his that I've read so far, too. I haven't read any of the other Rama books yet, though, as I don't think Clarke actually wrote them himself
  10. 4.5 stars. And it was reviewed by Werthead, so it doesn't count
  11. Teehee, I've got that somewhere, haven't listened to it for ages. Must dig it out, or watch the actual episode again Did you ever watch Whedon's 'Dr Horrible's Sing-along Blog', starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwzXTOJVN0E
  12. Sounds interesting, Laura, thanks for the review
  13. Castle 6x04 This season's been rubbish so far.
  14. What can I say, it's a collection According to the blurb on the front from (wait for it) SFF Chronicles, it's "his best book to date". And we both know how much they know over there
  15. That's interesting and, as you say, annoying. Even if they did that, though, wouldn't Robin still have decided how to incorporate it into the routine?
  16. Sadly true Hence today's additions: Blood and Bone (Malazan Empire Book 5) by Ian C. Esslemont and The Surgeon's Mate by Patrick O'Brian
  17. Went to Leicester Square to see Captain Phillips, paid for tickets (£14.50!!) then found that they had scaffolding up in the screen where the film was on because there was some problem or other. They told us to wait in the bar. Forty minutes later they came and said the performance was cancelled, but there was another showing in a smaller screen in half an hour. I thought blow that, not paying that much to watch it on a small screen, so went to get a refund, which they gave us, and free tickets to any other film at any other Vue cinema
  18. Just picked up Ken Grimwood's Into the Deep for 1p (plus £2.80 p&p ) from Amazon Marketplace That means the TBR has increased again, of course
  19. Well Rachel's not getting any better - in fact, she's getting worse (which I didn't think possible ). Amazed she wasn't in the bottom two and out last night Stick to the Gadget Show and Countdown! At least she doesn't have to move then Poor Dragonlady. Think Robin's stupid choreography cost her dear. I'm with Len (for once!) on this one - waaay too much faffing around in some of the routines at the moment.
  20. I felt pretty much the same way about it, Tim - solid but unspectacular, and it left me wondering what all the fuss was about. The next two books have belatedly put that right
  21. All I know is that they've got a Malazan encyclopedia planned at some stage Personally, I'm quite excited about him trying something different, like this
  22. That's a lot of expense to go to only to find I wouldn't lend them to you One of the Vernor Vinge books I ordered from Book Depository is currently 'missing in transit'. They sent it out last Wednesday and it hasn't arrived, whereas they sent out one of the others on Thursday and it arrived on Saturday. I find BD are best for imported books
  23. I think it's only right that ICE got to write his own novels, having co-created the world. But yeah, it would have been more consistent if SE had written all of it. The two ICE books I've read so far haven't been anywhere near as good as Erikson's lesser efforts, unfortunately. Hoping for better from the subsequent books
