  4. Lets hope the gig will cheer you up then, I heard spunge are backing them on their U.K tour, they are an up tempo ska/punk band who are great fun. Have a pint of the brown stuff on me:)

  5. Thats sounds like a great night out:) Been doing ok apart from the mid week blues. If you like folky/punky fusion sort of music give gogol bordello a listen they have been tauted as the ukranian pogues.

  6. I agree whole heartedly just that some more puretanical people might be offended.
  7. Just finished Cold heart Canyon. I liked it a lot, Barker is a great story teller with a awesome (if not a little perverted) imagination. The ending was a little weak but all in all a great read.
  8. The Infamous dentist torture scene in the Marathon man. "Is it safe?" There's a french film called Irreversible, that had a 10minute scene in it, which if I saw it again would make me leave the room.
  9. The nice elderly couple next door from Rosmary's baby. Napoleon-Animal farm. Lady McBeth.
  10. Just got the first part of the Alexander triology by Valerio Massimo Manfredi will keep you's posted.
  11. On a more playstation mode, there are the books of Sven Hassel but he might be a bit young for that.
  12. Or All quite on the western front by Erich Maria Remarque. I read it when I was 12 and it made a lasting impression on me.
  13. On a flight to prague recently, I had the pleasure of sitting beside a woman who was reading The Road and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Needless to say we talked books the whole of the flight. Cool IMO:mrgreen:!
  14. I might get a bit of flack here . Elizabeth Wurtzels Prozac Nation just annoyed the hell out of me, talk about whiney. American Psycho the whole 80's thing didn't do it for me.
  15. I use mine all the time. T he opening times are a bit restrictive due to my work but it has an excellent selection and the computers are handy. IMHO libraries have been one of the greatest invention of mankind.
  16. I've scanned over most of the previous threads and not noticed one on Clive Barker. I'm nearly finnished his novel Coldheart canyon and am enjoying it. I've read several of his books, Imajica,Weaveworld, the Books of blood and Nightbreed to mention a few. I love the way he can give you almost a whole universe in a few chapters giving you just enough detail to let you paint your own picture. His books can sometimes be a bit close to the bone but that only adds to the atmosphere IMHO. Barker along with Gaiman are probably my favourite British Horror writers although I think the term Horror does them both a injustice. Just wondering what every body elses thoughts are?
  17. The Halifax ones do my head in! Ice Ice baby arghhhhhhh. The visa one currently showing is pretty good just for the pixies soundtrack.
  18. I'm with you on the pogues, nothing like a bit of rum, sodomy and the lash to get the shindig started.

  19. Very true Flat nondescript boring sums up staffordshire pretty well. I miss the mountains and the see lol. My mum just sold a lovely cottage on the Shetland Isles right beside the beach. Like Hawaii with **** weather and no trees. She's back on the mainland now.

  20. Glad to be of service! No Saint paddy's day brawl in New York, Boston, Birmingham or Glasgow would be complete without the Dropkick Murphys or the Pogues.
  21. I've not seen shamless in a while but from the description it could be the Drop Kick Murphy's?
  22. I found it to be a enjoyable read, in a similar mould to David Gemmell . I knew a bit about the Spartans and Helots before reading this book but the Author, who knows his stuff (Professor of classical Archeology), informed me on lots more. The battles of Marathon, Thermopylae(of 300 fame) and Plataea are the setting to this heroic tale. Theres plenty of violence, cloak and dagger and a bit of romance in this novel. If you enjoyed 300 you'll like this. My only to quibble with the book was, that I found the Greek names a bit difficult to get to grips with at first but I soon got into the swing of things. I've not writen a book review in ages so forgive this poor effort.
  23. I'm fine thanks. I'm currently In Staffs (near Birmingham). It says a lot about the place that it doesent have a bookshop lol! I think you would like the Highlands better! Fifers are a bit strange (Joke). Hope this finds you well:)

  24. Charlie Chaplin's Cane. Clint Eastwoods poncho from the man without name series. Nicolas Cage's Snake skin jacket from wild at heart. The old school Aston Martin 007. Yumm:lol:
