I have read quite a few Ian McEwan books, and the only one I really thought was good was The Cement Garden. In general I have been quite underwhelmed by the rest of his writing. I read The Cement Garden when I was quite young, though, so I don't know if I would have found it as powerful if I had read it when I was a bit older.

Well, I have listed 50 books that I read last year, so that's not too bad a haul. There are still a few I know I read but have to hunt down and add to the list, but I'm quite pleased with my reading over the year. What I'm definitely not pleased with is that I gave up on my reviews and genre challenge half way through the year - hopefully I will do better in 2013!

I read War and Peace at work, although I often managed to devote a whole lunch hour to it rather than just 5 minutes here and there. I'm not sure I would have made my way through it any other way,, as if I had had other books nearby to tempt me I might well have given up!

I love that series, read quite a few of them this year, very absorbing!
