  1. I did! it was on T4 or something last Sunday after I had finished watching that traveller show
  2. I've only caught one episode of Glee by accident when it was on in the background last week, and the songs they covered were soooo good. Wish I had seen it from the start now!
  3. One of the books I have on hold 'His Dark Materials' Phillip Pullman, came in at my library half an hour before closing last night and they are closed today. So going to read a few more pages of my substitute book The Stand
  4. It can be a chore if you are not reading something you enjoy, and you are trying to read it just for the sake of getting through it. This is the kind of thing that puts people off I think, because a book that will enthrall a new reader (who will give up at the first excuse) is a very rare thing.
  5. I've only ever had bad experiences with those kind of sites, the most prominent of which is RISI. Cant be bothered with it anymore, rather just give them away.
  6. I loved that book, it's the most enjoyable i've read in years. I'm picking my way through The Stand waiting for my latest books to come in at my Library.
  7. Thats the stuff, that link also gave me a name I have been racking my brain for all day Jack London!
  8. Thanks for the suggestions ladies, not quite what I had in mind I was thinking more kind of man lives with wolves in the middle of nowhere type thing, but worth consideration on the back of a recommendation
  9. Can anybody recommend any fiction of this type?
  10. I have just placed this trilogy on hold at my library. Have been on the lookout for a good fantasy story, hopefully these will fit the bill.
  11. You will end up looking like a bagel Me? Roast dinner......then I woke up and finished my ham sandwich.
  12. Before you submit to having an obscure sounding equation tattooed on your body, think double entendre and whether you would be happy to be walking around for the rest of your life with one on your body All i'm saying
  13. We dont seem to have the Oscars preshow thing over here. Shame.
  14. I hate falling asleep on a Sunday afternoon and waking up early evening I'm watching the tv book club now on More 4
  15. I've given up on Shogun, the writing style just doesn't do enough to keep me involved, So I've now started Something wicked this way comes i've gotten so used to reading books that are 4-600 pages + that I will probably finish this in a couple of days.
  16. I have always just read one book at a time, and sat through it through hell and high water before even thinking of starting a different one. Now however, I have 1 waiting to be read that I am dying to start on; but I am of the mindset that I should finish the one I am currently reading (which is huge and will take weeks) first, but there is a little man on my shoulder whispering into my ear 'oh go on start the other one as well'. Does anyone else read 2 books at a time (for pleasure)? I need someone to convince me that this is an ok thing to do without it feeling slightly wrong. not good at this search thing am I
  17. chops the tree up, makes a canoe, throws it to... quite dissapointed this game hasnt taken off, seemed fun to me lol
  18. Well the swans lost 1-0, Forest scored right at the death. It's a good thing though cos that pushed Forest up to 2nd and out of the playoffs, we are by far the strongest team in the playoffs without forest.

  19. I am at a crossroads with Shogun, about 200 pages in and was falling asleep when I read through 2 chapters earlier today. There is a hint of the kind of writing I dont like where the author goes off on a tangent and describes everything and anything that has happened in the previous 300 years regarding a stone or window that the main characters come across on their travels. If he doesnt quit it soon this could be heading for the same fate as The girl who kicked the hornets nest - being thrown under a car.
  20. I dont think this game already exists on here, so... This is a game where (explanation stolen from another website) participants "throw" an object in each post. Each person who responds will metaphorically use the object in some way, turning it into or making something else, and then "throw" that object to the next forum participant and on it goes... Example - 1- buys a farm, raises animals, throws a sheep to... 2- sheers the sheep, gets some wool, throws the yarn to... 3- tries to crochet, can't make a sweater, throws leg-warmers to... _________________________________________________________________ I'll start... I step into Stephen King's The Shinning, meet Jack Torrance, steal his axe and throw it to...
  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DK_YmoBF3uA
  22. I used to have an 80GB Ipod classic (you wouldnt even need half that amount of memory, it held about 25 thousand songs), and used to buy audio books from audible.co.uk. They are great for listening to whilst driving or in the gym for example, I just couldnt get used to sitting down and listening to them like you would with a normal book.
  23. Not good as we're playing Forest lol
