The movie The Shining is one of the best if not the best 'adaptations' ever made, it is genuinely creepy. But as everyone else has said it is Kubrick's take on the tale rather than a true adaptation of the King novel. I would argue that its actually better than the book, but i'd probably get hammered for it

Wow they've just showed the footage where they took Shabby's hat, its unbeilevable she is like a mental patient. She'll get it back in a few days she is screaming like a maniac

C woman Call her Kiva that seems to be the shortcut most are taking, altho where that V comes from I dont know! I'm starting to think Josie's whole 'John James is to good looking for the likes of me' attitude is a bit of a game plan to get the 'ordinary female viewer' rooting for her. Latest 'episode has just started and she's laying it on a bit thick, she's hardly a troll imo she's one of the most attractive in there!

Josie and John James seem to be getting on very well from i've seen Frankie, they've been sharing a bed Shabby is getting more and more nervous that her little group of people she has influence over is getting broken up, she seems baffled as to why Govan was evicted and I heard her saying she thinks that she must be one of the most popular people in the house I like Ben too, when he first went in I instantly disliked him just based on his persona, but he seems a nice laid back if slightly naive person..which is a rarity in that show. If you dislike Shabby she wont be going up in your estimation after what happened today

There is a documentary on the cable channel 'Yesterday' tonight at 10pm called The Channel Islands at War; it's about what life was like when they were occupied by the Nazi's during WWII (something I didnt know happened). The trailer for it is what grabbed my attention, a typical 1940s english radio announcer that starts off saying 'We are now under Nazi occupation" Looking forward to this

Way to spoil the ending!

Your Book Activity Today - Thread 11
Johnny Carson Whit replied to Janet's topic in General Book Discussions
Hoping for a good couple of hours reading of Under the dome today at least, not sat and read for more than an hour for a few weeks. Love the book so far -
I dont think I have ever seen a more emotionally immature adult than Shabby, she is doing her own head in. Big divide starting to form because she had a go at Chaimoe for having the audacity to hug other people in the house.

They would be welcome to the weather in SA as far as i'm concerend, not a fan of this heat. Didnt really take much notice of this first game going to watch the USA game afterwards thats when the World Cup starts properly for me. The group stages have been mostly dire.
-
A couple of the men are - Nathan said he was a Leeds fan but doesnt watch them anymore cos 'they arent on the telly as much' I nearly punched the screen at that point.
-
Glad Govan has gone. The HM's are unknowingly getting the house ready for the vs Germany BB house penalty shoot-out task on Sunday Well the task is today but shown on TV tmrw. Prize for winning - being able to watch the game on Sunday
-
Their task they are doing this afternoon is just bloody stupid, it is impossible, the producers must be crying laughing at how stupid these people are to even attempt it

Yea I've got it on my PC I keep it on in the background not the kind of thing you watch intently it can get quite boring! The highlights shows have been heavily edited and makes you form a picture of a person that quite often is not true, because you will see perhaps a 5 mins outburst from a 24 hour day which in the great scheme of things didnt really matter, but its made a huge deal on the HL show. Apart from Shabby she really is a:censored:

Believe me this woman has a 'stage face' when you see her chatting on the live feed when she thinks shes not on camera she is totally different. Then she turns it on when she's the main attraction like a Butlins Redcoat. She's very false imo. She has a game plan and she knows exactly what she's doing. I think Josie should win it she's the same 24/7 warts an all, whether people like it or not.
-
I think it's going to be either Govan or Dave. The amount of hatred for Dave from people who watch the show is actually a bit OTT imo, he can be annoying but he's not malicious, Govan is just a nasty little Whichever one of them goes, the other will go next week imo.
-
Well I know next to nothing about these teams to be honest lol I'm just purely going by their wins so far. My opinions on the WC are probably just worth ignoring, if its not to do with Swansea I dont really know what i'm on about Still think England will struggle to get anything out of this game though, or maybe they will up their game because it's against better opposition than they've been playing recently. Contradictions a plenty there, I should be a pundit
-
Well it is the World Cup you cant avoid the good teams forever! England will get Argentina in the quarter finals if they get through, then probably Brazil There's always next time:tong:

Salem's Lot Easily one of his most famous and best

Wimbledon starts today. First up on centre court: Roger Federer v Alejandro Falla It's weird how quickly thats come around, also made me realise that the weather at this time of year is usually torrential rain!

Most clubs, countries, players and fans all over the world have been calling for video refs to be used for years. FIFA wont allow it, they say they want the sport to be the same at every level because you wont get video refs being used in the lower leagues or semi professional/amateur game it will create a divide. Which I think is right to be honest. The game has lasted hundreds of years without it, referees making the odd bad decision is part of the game. See: 'The referee's a :censored:'

She is a very strong, but very funny and intelligent woman. She's my favourite to win it so far. Corrin (my 2nd fav) comes across as a really nice person but she's grating on me a bit, there is such a thing as being too nice. She's like a Butlins Redcoat on Valium. The 'men' in there are all whiny and pathetic. With the exception of Steve, who deserves respect for what he has done but is just plain boring.
-
At the time yea I think she did. But now it's time for Shabby to go I think. What you saw on the highlight show tonight I saw live and it was even more cringeworthy. This morning (i've been watching it live) she was still going on about it. Epic argument between Josie and John James earlier, she had him actually crying

god no i'm probably at least 30 years younger than whoever that man is

On other forums I change my avatar like I change underwear But feels like a bit of a trademark on here for me so the weird looking old man is staying as he is

Did anyone encourage you to read
Johnny Carson Whit replied to Kidsmum's topic in General Book Discussions
As a child my mother always encouraged me to read, I remember her taking me to the Library and letting me read the horror books she used to collect, I dont know why she did collect them cos she's never been a big reader. My parents bought me books for Christmas and birthdays (I would get the Beano annual & the latest edition of the Guiness book of records every year, nothing weighty but still).
