I read Moonraker just before Christmas and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
I do prefer the movies though!
My hubby is a big bond fan and has all the dvds, we usually watch them all over again just before a new Bond movie is released. That will be this year again just before Skyfall is released in October.

Welcome to the forum.
I read a mixture of genres but especially enjoy Michael Connolly and Agatha Christie.
I love a good mystery but not so keen on blood, gore and violence.
Have you read Before I go to sleep, S.J. Watson? It is a great debut novel recommended by Richard and Judy. It is also a tv book club choice.

My hubby and I went to see Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol in cinema. Absolutely brilliant!
Movies on t.v. over christmas, where do I start: -
Sleepless in Seattle
City of Angels
You've got mail
Bedknobs and broomsticks
The History of Mr Polly, Lee Evans
Muppets Christmas Carol
Bugsy Malone
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
The Holiday
It's a wonderful life
Watched Senna on dvd - had already seen this in cinema in June but it is a fantastic movie
I watched other movies but mind has now gone blank, ashamed to say that I hardly picked up a book over christmas. I did leave the sofa before you ask as the dog still needed to be walked! Apart from that the house could have fallen down round me over Christmas and I may not have noticed. When else can you indulge yourself if not at Christmas!

My brother and I had a discussion at Easter about the different books we both read. My brother purely reads Fantasy with the odd Classic thrown in whereas I feel that I cover all the other genres. We each decided to get the other to read a book of our choice. I gave him Small Island, Andrea Levy and he gave me the Farseer Trilogy, Robin Hobb!
My brother only managed to get to page 100 before abandoning my book whereas I am now on book 3 of the trilogy and thoroughly enjoying the challenge he set me!

I read it at school for GCSE so I thought a re-read would be appropriate for its 50th anniversary! It will be interesting to see what I make of it especially reading it as an adult and by choice!

If you like crime, you should try Michael Connolly especially the Harry Bosch books.
Best to read them in order, his earlier books are brilliant!

I like to read the book first and then if I really like it I will watch film.
Otherwise I just imagine the characters in the movie and it kind of spoils book for me.
I prefer to be able to say, oh I would definitely have picked her/him for that part when I watch film.

I decided to start a book journal this year. I have just decided to keep this journal to see how many books I read in a month and then a year. I hope to eventually add reviews, etc but for now I am just interested to see what I read in a year cos other members seem to keep track. I have a terrible memory insofar as I get so engrossed in a book but when I finish and go on to the next one, I can barely remember what I have read unless it blows my mind!
