  1. Your little cat is very very cute Abby, and Clement I love it when dogs think they own you rather than the other way round.

I would love to have a dog too but it would not be fair with working so I will settle on my monstrous Guinea Pigs who trate me like a lettuce and food dispenser.

Hehe, I love your Guinea Pigs, Pickle. :D They are one of the cutest animals out there! You should post some new pics of them sometime soon!

Thanks everyone. The baby 'sort' of slept through the night (until I took away her jingly balls... THEN she got bored at 2am and decided to sleep) She's going to the vet today because she definitely has a broken rib and I want to make sure that gets healed properly. Also, she hasn't made a single peep since I brought her home. No meow, no purr, no hiss, absolutely no sound. When I pet her I can feel her purring vibrations, but can't hear anything. Could something be wrong with her throat or are some cats just silent?

  2. Poor thing! I didn't realize you were a cat man, Mac. :) They're such sweet creatures, despite their 'godly' reputation. Its so sad to see people treating animals like objects rather than living, breathing beings. I'm much more an animal person too. Animals aren't malicious, they don't plot or seek to hurt people.

  3. Thanks guys :) I feel so heartbroken the more I get to know her. You can tell something bad happened to her before being dumped. She shakes at first when you pet her and if you make any sudden movements she curls up like you're going to hit her. Its so sad because she's only about 4 weeks old. How someone could ever harm an animal, I'll never understand. She hides under the bed unless she gets a little 'brave' spurt and decides to come and attack my toes. Poor baby.

  4. I got my baby, Piper! She is so much smaller than I thought she'd be!!! So far she's just been sleeping, the poor thing has had quite a trip (4 hours!) and is just tuckered out from all the big changes. The first pic is of her playing with my fingers, the second is her exploring my bed (she's too tiny to jump up on it!) and the third is her after I woke her up to take a picture of her :)

  5. I'm guessing weekends would be better, and thinking about the different timezones, I would think either Friday or Saturday late(ish) in the evening in the UK/Europe would be better, as it would be afternoon in US and the following morning in Australia.

Would a Saturday at 9:30pm UK time (3:30 US Central Standard Time) (6:30am the following day Sydney, Australia time) be alright? I know it's really early, Kylie or we could do something like 1:30pm UK time (7:30 am US Central Standard Time) (10:30pm Sydney, Australia Time same day).

  6. So glad you've found so many, bookworm! Its great having you here. :D

Using the Chat for a 'live' discussion on To Kill a Mockinbird sounds like a good idea. The only real 'problem' is the time differences. What days and times work best for you all? I was thinking that we could have 2 seperate chats 'scheduled' so that there is a better chance of people participating who want to.

    Any thoughts?

  7. Welcome to our little group, Tasha! Glad to have you here :)

I'll definitely be re-reading this in honor of the 50th anniversary. It was one of my favorite books that was required reading back in school.

On a cute note, an old classmate of mine had a baby a month ago (yesterday) and she named her Scout after To Kill a Mockingbird :) Thought that was rather sweet.

  8. If you're on Twitter you can follow most of the major publishing companies. I follow Random House, Simon and Scheuster and a couple others and they're always announcing new authors and books that are coming out along with links to a synopsis. There is a huge, really informative literary community on Twitter.

  9. Have to watch and see! wink.gif

I'm just watching it on TV right now and the episode where Doyle and Paris are learning how to do martial arts because of the 'Do Whopp' group downstairs is on. laugh.gif

  10. And then there's the one poster who goes totally off topic and rambles on about something entirely irrelevant.

Lightbulbs remind me of that one time at the SPAM museum when we got to taste different varieties of canned meat on pretzel sticks and then they showed us a movie and then they showed us antique SPAM and then they gave us magnets to take home and then they told us to invite all of our friends... Do you guys like how the 80's are coming back into fashion?
