  1. The Book of Lost Things made me cry

I am a man, so I didn't bust out sobbing, :out:, but the last chapter really got me. I read the very last line of the book and then I had to put on sports highlights to man up

I haven't cried for years, but that book was beautifully written. Bravo John Connolly.

I might have to check that one out. I've heard the title a few times elsewhere. :D

  2. I had never heard about them until I started working in a book store in November. Every other person who was coming through my line was buying one or more of the books. I finally got so curious that I bought them for myself and fell in love. She really knows how to portray the emotions of her characters so that the reader feels everything they (Bella and Edward if you have read Midnight Sun on her website).

  3. Success!! My aunt whos now addicted to Twilight stayed up til 2:30am just to finish New Moon and its currently reading Eclipse  she is so in love with Edward that she doesn't dare watch the film though.

Am I the only one who would love to read New Moon from Jacobs point of view?

I have a huge interest in the wolves :D

I don't know if she for sure will or not (so don't quote me on this) but there have been quite a few rumors that Stephenie Meyer may do a series about Leah Clearwater.

If she does it would center around the wolves and Leah and her turmoil with Sam. I hope she does it!

  4. I recently finished a book called Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah and I don't think I have ever cried harder because of a story. It was a wonderful book (all of Kristin's are if you have never read hers.)

Another great tear jerker is Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper.

  5. I have just discovered these Barnes & Noble Leathebound Classics - aren't they gorgeous? I've got the Ultimate Hitchhiker's one on the way because somehow it found its way on Amazon.co.uk, however the rest of them are out of my grasping reach.

The books themselves aren't so bad, however international P&P (in its cheapest form!) is over $7 per shipping PLUS over $5 per item... I know America's far away but this seems preposterous! I remember the days when B&N used to be affordable, back when I was little back in Italy we used to sit around as a family, circle what we wanted from their latest catalogue and eagerly wait our hamper-sized box of books.

What I wanted to ask you lovely people across the pond was this: does any of you have experience of sending parcels to the UK, and if so can you confirm that it's quite that expensive? I need to find a way around this...

*reaches for the glorious Anne Rice volume, crying*!

Unfortunately the shipping rates are pretty outrageous. I think the reason they went up so high (they didn't used to be that bad) is because of the hike in gas and all of that.

The best advice I can give is to see if any of your friends are planning on buying books and make one mass order together and split the shipping. Otherwise Barnes and Noble's website also has a sub-site where you can buy used volumes from individuals. There is a chance that the shipping may be cheaper that way (but you would want to make sure that the seller is willing to ship over to you).

Good luck! I understand how you feel about the B&N leatherbound classics. I just recently purchaced The Complete Works of Jane Austen and am in love with it!

  6. Marmite on toast! Oh, I am exactly the same way lately. I need my Marmite toast! *pops a slice of bread into the toaster* :D

On a different note - just to show what disastrous effects boredom can have when wanting to try an original snack - I once tried mixing melted chocolate with feta cheese. In some part of my mind, such a mixture made sense. My taste buds didn't feel the same way, though... Oh, the errors of our youth! :D

Have you ever tried a cannoli? It is sort of the same concept except you use marscapone cheese and stuff it inside of a circular pastry and then you can top it with whatever you like (chocolate, fruit, etc). It is delicious!

  7. I seem to have some weird obsession with Marmite on toast at the moment!!

Other comfort foods are: Sausage Mash & Gravy, Ice Cream, Lasagne, Egg Mayo sandwiches. Mostly savoury, I like sweet things, but i'd rather savoury junk!

I have a stupid question. What is Marmite? Is it sort of like a jam?
