  1. I definately going to read it, and it was on my last summer holiday that I read the first one in the series. I am not going to rush to buy it though, as I have found that the series is a little hit or miss.
  2. Ok so I am looking for a book.... My Best mate's Birthday is next month and he is not a huge book fan but really loves the Sharpe series and has them all and I know that whenever his girlfriend and I talk books he always mentions wanting to find another book or series to read. Does anyone have any suggestions? He also loves the Lord of the Rings series, and historical fiction like Books based around Waterloo and Napolean. War kind of books, if that makes sense. As you can tell I do not know much about this genre. Thanks in advance CW.
  3. I have one of his books on my TBR pile, it's a book I picked up on a charity shop due to a lot of people on here loving it so much. I will read it one day... I promise!!!!
  4. I read it at the beginning of the year and like I said previously I liked it, a really easy read, and good for a vacating mojo. I have Linger on my wishlist and I will most certainly either get it for Xmas or from my library. I only saw this comment Fi, and I like the sound of that!!!! I really like shiver but could see some things that I would personally like in the furure, so this makes me want to get Linger even more.
  5. Worrying to hear about your thoughts on the THE Ressurrectionists. I still have yet to read this on my TBR pile, and it seems to be getting lower and lover down the more bad reviews I hear about it!! As for Fantasy lover, another book to add to the wishlist. I always know who to count on! Thanks charm. If I'm right I recommended this to you last year charm and said that the only thing about it was that there were Zombies. I am glad you like the series. I have not read the second one yet, but I will do as soon as I have cut into my TBR pile. Thanks for that recommendation Fi, That sounds good and just joted it down on the wishlist. Yet another two I have just put on the wishlist. That Pleasure unbound sounds right up my street. Because of the sexual nature I am taking it is not a YA book. Thanks for awesome recommendations!
  6. so we are making the most of it :) and having a picnic!

What is the weather like there, it is beautiful here today.

  7. I took my oldest to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning theif in the cinema today. Nothing liek the book. My son and his friend LOVED it so thats all that matters.

Not doing much this afternoon, just housework. This evening we are going out. We leave near a national trust area, and live near a georgian house that was in Sense & sensability. For local residence today we are invited to ...

  8. I found it to pass the time. If you look at the book like that, he will think it is Ok. Not as good as the Da Vinci code, but did the job on a flight. Gah!!! I can't wait for your review! I have this on my wishlist. I have decided to read The Devils Star by Jo Nesbo. Not read any of it yet, but the blurb has captivated me already... Bring it On!!!!

  12. Ok so I finihsed Tempted (House of the night book 6) by P.C & Kirstin Cast. Wow! What an ending.I thought the book was OK. But such a page turner at the end, can't believe the ending! I instantly reserved the next one I have to know what happens. As for the next book I am going to read, hmm, I'm not sure I have a few from the library I must read. I might start the first Jo Nesbo book. **Edit*** I noticed that it is my first year anniversary on BCF. Happy BCF to me, happy BCF to me......
  13. What do you think of To KIll A Mockingbird?
  14. Can it get anymore far fetched? My kids loved the first Nanny McPhee, I hated it and fell asleep. Even Colin Firth could not keep me awake. They wanna see the next one, but I am hoping that there will be other movies to watch instead!

  19. *****I noticed that I missed a review out 4th of July by Jame Patterson**** I gave it a 7/10 I think.*********** #22: SkullDuggery Pleasant: Derek Landy Synopsis Meet the great Skulduggery Pleasant: wise-cracking detective, powerful magician, master of dirty tricks and burglary (in the name of the greater good, of course). Oh yeah. And dead. Then there's his sidekick, Stephanie. She's! well, she's a twelve-year-old girl. With a pair like this on the case, evil had better watch out! "So you won't keep anything from me again?" He put his hand to his chest. "Cross my heart and hope to die." "Okay then. Though you don't actually have a heart," she said. "I know." "And technically, you've already died." "I know that too." "Just so we're clear." Stephanie's uncle Gordon is a writer of horror fiction. But when he dies and leaves her his estate, Stephanie learns that while he may have written horror, it certainly wasn't fiction. Pursued by evil forces intent on recovering a mysterious key, Stephanie finds help from an unusual source -- the wisecracking skeleton of a dead wizard. When all hell breaks loose, it's lucky for Skulduggery that he's already dead. Though he's about to discover that being a skeleton doesn't stop you from being tortured, if the torturer is determined enough. And if there's anything Skulduggery hates, it's torture! Will evil win the day? Will Stephanie and Skulduggery stop bickering long enough to stop it? One thing's for sure: evil won't know what's hit it. Book details Published 03/09/2007 Publisher HarperCollins Children's Books ISBN 9780007241620 Ok so I really liked this book, my son wanted to read this, so I decided to read it before hand. I found it such a different type of idea. It starts of with the lead character Stephanie finding out that her beloved Uncle has died. I found the chapter about the reading of the will was hillarious. It then is a non stop rollercoaster, with fantastic characters and oneliners. The style of writing reminds me of Percy jackson and the lightening thief, with the same tempo and the same feel of the unbelieveable being the believable. Stephanie is a thoroughly mordern heroine. A 12 year old with an independant streak yet with compassion and empathy. I don't know why but in my mind I always felt like it was set in the like it was a scene in dick tracy, haha. Maybe because of Skullduggery's hat. 9/10
  20. I finished Skulduggery Pleasant and started Tempted - House of the night book 6. I seem to be reading it well. It is holding my attention... Just. I hope it gets a little better.
  21. WOW! why have I not seen this thread before. These books will be going straight on the wishlist.
  22. I bought the first one in the series in a charity shop for 50p. It is on my mount TBR Everest, but looking forward to reading it.
  23. Aw, it is a shame that you had to put aside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I loved the book after page 275. It went so fast and the second book is amazing. But I can understand how boring it can be, I remember nearly giving up myself.
  24. A lot of the radio stations I think are going to be stopped, along with the BBC website to be cut down. and also things to do with the Iplayer. I have heard that alot of the series will also be stopped, and new shows will not be made. There are lots of shows I can't stand, and I am not a huge TV watcher. But While I had my kids at home with me Pre school I found that some of the CBEEBIES programmes were fantastic for my kids and for an hour before betime it was lovely to have an hour in front of the Tv watching shows that other countries would be envious of. Also after traveling alot I still find our BBC news to be by far the best. Alot of news channels around the world are so bias and judgemental that I find it hard to watch, with the BBC I find that ok there may be times where facts are not exactly right but are far better at stating the facts than other channels. For example Sky. If I am right even though BBC funding will be cut our TV licence will stay the same, even though some politians have stated that if the funding cuts so should the TV licence. *Edit* There does look like there could be a cut in the TV licence.
