:thud:God Bless you Alan Ball!!I always cry at this episode when
she eats the pie crying
......just gets me every time!
Yes, that is a sad bit indeed
I want to know what the dog is... why it keeps turning up all of the time.

I also hate that McDonalds poem.
and the trekkie types and don;t distrub at brekkie types... were just passing by!
...erm what!?

I started reading Dune by Frank Herbert last night. Quite involved but I know I will like this one
-
I realise that I am way behind everyone else but last nights episode was REALLY good! Season One Episode Six ... I think...
the one with the Gran's funeral. I am getting sick to death of Jason though. What a twit and I'm not sure whether I trust Sam to be honest :s

aww .. not good
Hope you feel much better soon!
I'm well into The Lost Book Of Salem by Katherine Howe and loving it so far, gonna go now and read some more of it.
Ooooh I've just noticed I'm over 5000 posts now too!
thank you
I'm getting better. Back to work tomorrow
I'm glad you are enjoying The Lost Book of Salem. I LOVED that

I'm very interested to read this Gyre and I will be putting it right at the top of my reading list. Thank you
I have read Anne Frank's diary and I have watched the most recent dramatisation. If only they had all survived!
-
I haven't read anything in ages because I have had a nasty flu
-

Is this the Bud one you mean?

Good advert, shockingly bad beer...
I love that advert!!!

I haven't yet but my sister and one of my best friends went to see it and said it was lovely, apparently it's got a really moving beginning but get cheerier as you go along. Re: the beginning, it made my friend cry - the hardened cynic who I've only ever seen cry at A.I. in 18 years...!
Yes, the first ten minutes are very sad indeed. My boyfriend had tears in his eyes and the only other film I have seen him cry at was The Notebook
It is very funny though but not really a kids film I don't think
-
I went to see 9 last night, pretty cute film
I wanted to see 9 but it looks kinda sad. I know I sound wimpy but I get really attached to teh characters if they are in grave peril. For example, I cried at the first five minutes of WALL-E
Has anyone seen UP?

Haha you're right, I think I noticed it at 03.00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_-9QFvhQWo
Also
Any loan advert that proports they are doing you some sort of favour by smothering you in the debt. The worst offender was 'window loans' or some such, the one with the annoying geordie bird 'ya scootah is under the stairs'.
I love the shampoo adverts/cosmetics. 70% of people thought it was better, etc etc,
In tiny letters at the bottom -(out of 38 people questioned)
yup! there is is - yucky!
The cosmetic adverts are always hilarious. MAXIFY YOUR LASHES (model wearing false lashes)

I usually love Philippa Gregory's books and was highly disappointed by The Other Queen (put it down before I was even half way through) - so I was extra pleased with this one, a definte return to form here, can't wait for the next!
I agree. I forced my way through The Other Queen because it seemed rushed. I did read it fo rthe history though and glad that I did. She is certainly back on top form with The White Queen

Go Compare! This is grim but... has anyone else noticed the spit on that guys cup at the beginning? ERGH!

Hi Jaden.
Just thought I'd say that you'll find your lessons far more enjoyable if you've read the text. I know that school can be pretty boring sometimes, and lessons somewhat tedious. But not only might you enjoy the lessons more if you read the books, you might actually enjoy the books as well
hear hear! I agree

About to start The House on the Strand by Daphne Du Maurier when I get off of here
Not reading as much at the moment as I have started an xmas job and quite tired
I bought Tipping the Velvet and Fingersmith by Sarah Waters from a charity shop too. I really enjoyed The Night Watch
-
No, I'm watching it each week on TV. We are only up to episode 5 season 1. As soon as I saw him sitting there at the end of episode four I said 'ooooh oh that must be Eric then... Bill is better...' and my boyfriend did this
heheh
But come on! There is more than enough for guys to gape at in that show!
-
...I'll stick to Bill
he is dreeeaaamy! hehe
-
I am desperate to read this book. Thank you for bringing it to my attention
-
I finished The Night Watch by Sarah Waters last night which is a shame. I keep thinking about the characters. It really is a fantastic book and I have added her others to my reading list
I started reading The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein last night but it isn't really drawing me in yet. Perhaps it is because I know what will happen having read and studied the original. Hmmm... will have to give it another go at lunch time.
-
Well.... Eric came into it last night....
-
I love The Tudors
but series four is the last I believe
I think it would be interesting if it went on to Mary's life and all that business with poor Lady Jane Gray.
Is that picture you are using from Lost in Translation? I love that film so so much!

Went to the library and got me these:
- Jean-Dominique Bauby: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
- Alexis Wright: Carpentaria (anyone read this?)
- Karin Slaughter: Indelible
- Philip K. Dick: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep
Now I have to find time to read these.
Do Andriods Dream is absolutely completely and utterly fantastic! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did
I hope you don't mind me voicing my opinion here (you don't know me), but I have read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and I highly recommend it. It will take you on a wild ride where reality is never as it seems. Philip K. Dick is a master of unexpected twists and turns. The times i have picked that up in a bookstore and put it back on the shelf choosing something else instead of it. Totally drawn to the book but unsure because of the strange title......i will definately buy it now...thanks for the recommendationBy all means voice your opinions - that's what we are here for
-
... who is Eric ....

Finally saw Distric 9 yesterday.
I found it to be heavy, bleak, depressing and quite gory... and a top notch, WHOA!!! film. I squirmed, jumped and averted my eyes a fair bit, however nothing was gratuitous: the film is deep, layered, important. There's so many underlying themes the head spins in a good way, and a final message of hope so hopelessly depicted I couldn't help but let out the blubbering I'd been holding back for a while (for those of you who've seen it, one word will suffice:
flowers
... waaaah
!).
In conclusion: recommended, but beware - this is not a film you can watch lightheartedly.
I loved District 9 too. I cried like a baby watching it.
I was so desperate for that alien and his son to get away... I was practically on the edge of my seat. I did find some parts (like when we were seeing the aliens that had been tested on and the aliens being shot) quite upsetting but I didn't find it at all OOT. It really did play around with my emotions though. I started off hating that main guy (can't remember his name) and ended up really feeling for him.

Really lost my reading mojo after being ill so I am trying to get back into it by reading something simple and light. I picked up Live The Dream by Josephine Cox and am really enjoying it at the moment. Really easy to read and just what I need at the moment
