  1. Bravo all of you. Oui I agree. In my home, we have hundreds of books, they are treasure to us. And as each little one comes along, besides the dance and classical music and perhaps now out of date things that were treasures in long ago times for children, we read read read even Tolstoy and Hans Christian Andersen, Dickens and first Winnie the Pooh, etc. We read them and talk about them and draw about them to enter their world, see what they saw and little things like that. When friends are over the little ones they have never heard of any of this, but they know every role playing game on the computer and all the popular shows. And this is fine. But we do not watch the television, we all agreed and so our little ones do not even know it. And when at play the visiting little ones end up putting away their usual conceptions and listen with fascination to Three Muskateers and playing with very old toys and dolls and using their imagination and voila , now the classics are beginning to matter to them also, non? And so we have privelege of sharing with others and when they are older maybe they will remember and try to read more of them. It is almost like being a missionary of literature in these times I am thinking.
  2. I was shopping, and came upon a charming hard cover book of cross stitch, all of teddy bears in different settings and backgrounds. So tender and full of fantasy. I fell in love with the book, oui, and hope to start a few projects after Easter.
  3. Bonjour and merci,

How charming the picture of you and either papa or child, I don't know which. To me the family is most important and most sacred.

Me, I am enjoying your thoughts very much. You have a sensitive heart, non?

Have a day most happy and full of interesting moments.

    Genevieve

  4. Bonjour, hello to you.

I must say that you are seeming to me to be a very interesting and unique person.

I very much love to read your posts and learn from you.

I hope this day is happy for you.

    Genevieve

  5. Oohlala, those lines from Eagles, they give one the shivers, non?" Oui, welcome, welcome and I tell you this Binary Digit, once you start to know the members, voila, you begin to love them and then you cannot stop reading their posts. Terrible, but true!
  6. Bravo, I agree very much with this explanation. It is that something, that almost magical something in taste and perfection, in color and beauty of words and the pictures and feelings they produce, oui, a classic like your cars.
  7. You might love it, all my friends think it is charming. But I mean, having travelled a great amount and interacted with peoples of every kind, I felt in my heart and embarrassment from some of the ways the characters were portrayed with their speech and actions. I have been to the south of United States and oui, the accents are slow and langorous, and oui, the class distinction was there and conceit in some. But still there is such exaggeration, this I feel strongly. I have seen other movies from even the 1930's that seem from only yesterday, so I don't think it is that.
  8. fancy nails, oui, that must be it. But how funny the things people think of. Mortals are all wierd, all of us, don't you think. Me I am perfectionist but when little I hated, why I don't remember, to bend down to pick up things. Papa would say you pick up everything and so I perfected using my toes to pick up all. He would shake his head and think I am mad and get annoyed oui, but I was doing what he said.
  9. I know I know that everyone will shout "Genevieve you are imbecile" but me I did not like Gone with the Wind. Non, I thought Vivien Leigh maybe was okay, but the rest of the cast they seemed too forced, too cartoonish, especially the male lead, ah me what is his name. He bothered me and the little black maid, she seemed a little offensive, too charicature of the African American, even for back then. I cannot explain, it was for me not great. Bookjumper, do you ever feel in your heart, Geoffrey Rush, he seems sad for real?
  10. What are the Tesco sandwhiches, they sound so mysterious
  11. Merci, merci book jumper. You make me smile, because , all my life I am such a shy person, I blush even when alone! Then a lady she says to me Genevieve, you are thinking too much of yourself. You must start to do what you are afraid to do and come out of yourself. And if you blush, what is that? What is that, I wanted to die, what is that! But I joined the acting club and went on to act at university, still blushing. And I became correspondent and also I performed musically(recitals they made me so afraid I was stuck to piano with persperation. I joined the toastmistress but it was too terrifying. Stayed only one month. shiver. But I did decide that , since I sew well I would study the clothing from medieval and Victorian eras and make for myself the clothes, oui? And I did and do. My favorite garment is my ankle length cape, a soft velvet. I love it dearly. And , it is strange, but noone ever seems to think I am strange, you know sticking out. In my village, many people seem to be 'differen't in their own ways yes. The kids in Gothic they like my clothes, and also all from university here , the cultured ones and stuffy ones, they always say good things. Who cares, but ah me I do feel displaced. Still, in my jeans and t's I am at home too. You made me sigh telling me about your studies. I study history, oui, but not that. I think I should see maybe I can do that next year, I don't know. Wilde lily, how romantic that name, oui I have read Mists of Avalon, much it frightened me, but it captured the true pagan activities that do not touch my heart. And Arthur's sister to me was perhaps quite mad and savage non? But her life was full of sorrows. And so much treachery. But the title is perfect oui. I was worn out at the end and cried much.
  12. Bonjour Arthur, Shalom

I am wondering how are you? I very much liked your introduction, you have the logical orderly mind oui?

How are things in Israel, I hope you are all safe and happy.

    Have a good day.

  13. Salut!

How are you this day of spring mon ami?, if I may call you that, I don't know.

I am restless, oui, and want to start my planting. I am going to plant many blue flowers to help the honey bees, So many are being destroyed -poof from the bad chemicals and destroyed environment. The blue flowers draw them and also if you take a block of wood, small, and drill the small holes into it the little bees they will rest in their away from the wasps and other worries. How dear are the honey bees. And we here we eat much honey.

How are you cherie, happy, oui or not? How is your day?

  14. Shalom and bonjour Gil, How fascinating you are already!. Let me see, did you have to marry her at least twice because you had a Jewish ceremony, then one of her church maybe? And then hmm one at the justice of the peace in another country? How very intriguing, I await your exciting explanation. I admit I have not read the authors you love , but I am willing! I am in love with this place so far, so I can only say I hope so for you too.
  15. That is too bad about the version with Liam Neeson and Geoffrey Rush, but me, I am thinking those two alone were magnificent in feelings and nuances and so I loved it very much. And I am sorry about the death of his beloved Natasha, my condolensces to he and the little boys for loss of mama. I did not like in many ways either versions of Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The first too silly, the oompa loompas made me sick in my stomach. The next with Johnny Depp was bordering on the macabre and mean spirited I am thinking. so no stars for either.
  16. I do not understand what a 'chicklit' author means. Only from point of view of woman, that seems a narrow world, non? But although I have not enjoyed anything very modern , why , I am not sure, too , well too something. But for me Daphne du Maurier I guess conveys much the meaning and feelings of the woman. I like her dramatic style, her excellent ability to get inside the psyche of a person, both woman and man, and build a story that is compelling.
  17. I confess I have not tried many of the foods you describe, though to me yes they sound romantically wonderful. For me, I don't know why I must have the potato crisps with a nice spinach dip when I can and I make my own french fries , so much I blush to say, cook them in virgin olive oil, not on high. Then I dip them into fresh chicken gravy. I have found to my happiness that leaving the skins on means no gain of the weight at all. I rejoice in the potatoe skins!
  18. Ah me Ceinwenn, forgive the delay, my mind it wanders at times. Yes I pronounce my name in the French way. When I hear the English it sounds cold somehow, non? it cannot suit me.
  19. Charles Dance, he is a man , director and actor I greatly respect.Ah me , he is gifted. But I destested the book, am I dreaming, I am certain that I read one, about after and I hated it. So I must , I think hate this as well.
  20. Oh brother. Chrissy, you have made me laugh and now I feel exhausted. ohlala you are funny. Perhaps this woman was made to become an inventor but never I am thinking pushed her brain cells beyond grade three. I don't like to peel the potato since it robs us of all the vitamins. But when I do, I peel them thickly and then mashe the potatoe after boiling of course. The skins I rub with a little lemon juice and put into container. Then keep a few days and then I rub with olive oil, bake in oven and then grate three cheeses on top and add salt. Voila, wonderful and I make a nice dip for them.
  21. Mon ami, you are clairvoyant! I am truly captivated by the Arthurian Tales, yes from the most ancient stories crafted to some of the newer. I belong oui to a group that studies the Arthurian stories and have a dear professor friend, he has written many books on the topic. He goes through la belle France and visits sites believed to have anything to do with King Arthur, Lancelot etc. Such an enchanting book and he sent me my own copy. And, me I do not care for the modern dress always, so sometimes I dress in the simple gowns of the beautiful ladies of the stories and it is a good excuse non to let down my long hair ? Ah the age of chivalry, I would like to see it back. We have two places near me where once a year the Camelot is set up and people come garbed and with steeds decked out and there is singing in the medieval ways and dancing and I am, for a sweet moment in time, sharing in the days of the King. Perhaps others of you like these stories, non, but if not, I shall not leave. You all seem to be sweet and chivalrous on this site. And that is enough.
  22. Salut!

I tried so many times to write your name in the little box and then press thelittle button to say oui, you shall be my friend. But it kept going blank, so I do not know if I did things properly.

But merci, I accept. I do not come on so much, but I will read your posts with enthusiasm.

    Genevieve Murielle

  23. Bravo Inver, bravo, I feel some of your joy and triumph. Keep going!
  24. Then it is my turn and I welcome you too. I find already the members to be very intelligent, kind, oui very kind, and eager to share their knowledge. Can anything be better? I look forward to reading your posts. And merci for the kind welcome dear readers. You made my eyes glisten with happy emotion.
  25. non, I just hate even the thought of that. I want to open and begin like the dawning of a new day, knowing nothing of how things will go.
