  1. Faerie Tales, how enchanting, I am doing a water color about the Queen of Faeries. I will want to take a look at that, merci!
  2. How humourous you two are. In my family it is considered the grande embarresment to even admit you visit the toilet with a book. That is why I sometimes look a tiny bit pregnant in a squareish or rectangular fashion. Even then, I would be afraid yes of getting the hemmoroids!
  3. William Golding and Claudia Durst Johnson wrote each a book that still disturbs me, much, very much. Golding wrote Lord of the Flies, we had to do a paper on it, and I felt like I was having a breaking down of my nerves as I read it. Truly upsetting. We had also to read To Kill A Mockingbird by Johnson and that too made me churn in my stomach.Who gives the right to decide that any person or race must be treated less than animals? I shivered and shook when I read it and so many of the characters just upset me.
  4. Comment allez-vous?

Merci, you are kind. And you too are helping people. Here many many do, especially the retired persons. It is good to continue and use the mind and the heart to help others in this life, oui?

I am feeling a tiny bit lost here, but perhaps in time I will find my way.

    Thank you again.

  5. I tried to stop buying so many books several years before and just read them from the library, because, loving domestic order and cleanliness we saw our books were taking over the house. But alas our hearts pined to go into the book stores and feel the books, then hold them and then lie to ourselves how much they needed to come home and be happy with us. So, the truth is, we are now looking for a much bigger home and when we find our cherie, our perfect place we are planning to turn one into a complete library and but of course we are categorizing all and have thought of perhaps putting one of those metal things in the door way to make a noise if any of the expensive books try leaving. With a human attached oui? We have many expensive reference books, many foreign language hard cover, English, Turkish, Greek, Latin, Hindi, Russion, Aramaic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese,Ukrainia, Spanish,Italian, etc and also many cd's and other helps to go along with them. We have a section on early civilizations and religions, a section on mathematics and one on Law, very extensive. We have a section on Classics, a section on mysteries. A section on engineering. A section on health and healthy cooking. We have a small section on excercise and one on myths and legends from about thirty countries. We have six or seven sections on children's books, a section on ancient faerie tales. We have a section on music and the masters. We have a section on great cathedrals of the world and other grand buildings. There is a section on gardening and one on psychology. Well mon ami you can see the picture. All must be dusted because so many books can affect the lungs and cause ashtma especially in children. And most are hard cover. We would rather save for months to buy just one of these treasures than travel or go out. But as you see, our present house is going on strike, no more books sil vous plait!. So we are looking for a house with five bedrooms now and a couple of big rooms to spare, one for the music and recording and one for a beloved library. In the meantime nerves are stretching because we are all wanting total order and pretty and what can we do? I thought the internet would solve this. Was there not the boasting at one time that paper would be passe? sigh. I will NOT use my member card to purchase books, I will not. Maybe some nice stationary.
  6. Xander, that sounds so lovely on the tongue, non? Your papa can knit, how postively wonderful. There is this place, huge and quite abominal in our village where you can go to find just about anything vintage you can think of. The trouble is there is a carpet on the floor and I am sure nothing like a vacuum has touched it in fifty years. So, if you wear a surgical mask and gloves(no I am not joking) you can find patterns for everything from so long ago and some are exquisite, just unbelievable and not a few a little fragile. But now, in these times one can photocopy, after autoclaving in the oven at low temperatue to kill dustmites and probably the Plague, and then you have a wealth of too beautiful opportunities to re create something the genteel ladies did once in the morning rooms after breakfast while the fire was burning and the sun streamed through the high windows. ah, so romantic.
  7. I make my own patterns. Why, I am not sure, but I need to create something from inside of me. I was so terrible at cross stich when first I started that I thought I should just use each peace to clean windows with, the twist doesn't leave streak!. But with practise and in times of quiet I learned to make my stitiches look uniform and pretty, and because I paint a great deal, I prefer oils but for sure they are messy and the smell gets to me so I use a lot of acrylic-I became better and better at the shades and feeling of the piece. But I have noticed that the people who's work I admire the most are gentlemen. They are amazing and adventurous, and very bold. Then I must hide mine.
  8. I too have viewed only that one. I picked Daphne du Maurier for a paper and went on to her official website. As I read and read I got the feeling that she was a sufferer of great bouts of depression and somehow had the strength to use that to do her best writing. I would like to see a brand new version, but nothing that ruins the ambience , and for sure I don't want to see a familiar face, only someone brand new.. Perhaps an engenue from England that is an understudy in live theatre. I think that would be wonderful. Also the same with Maxim. I do not like hm!!!1!
  9. I have no time for viewing television, but once, for a couple of days I pressed on an icon that allowed a person to watch a couple of episodes of The Apprentice. Mon Dieu! I was a shivering wreck. I could not bear it!. So , no more fooling at the computer, just do the work!
  10. I am Genevieve and I am happy to find this charming site. I love the classics , Plato is one of my favourite gentlemen, Jane Austen I find wonderful. I live in the world of dance, writing, and charitable works in my community, a very rewarding honor. I don't do as much as I would like to with my agenda, but I do as I can. I hope to be able to contribute something of value and I am sure I will learn much from all of you, oui?
  11. I have never read any book of great t hickness in one sitting. No, not with my bladder.
