I generally don't read the introduction unless I think it is going to be interesting or written by a person I've actually heard of! It depends what sort of subject it is. If I want to know some added information I'll read it but if I don't I won't.

Far From The Madding Crowd is perhaps the most pastoral of of Hardy's Wesswx novels. It tells the story of the young farmer Gabriel Oak and his love for and pursuit of the elusive Batsheba Everdene, whose wayward nature leads her to both tragedy and true love... After a slow start the book picked up pace at about 3/4 of the way through. At the start I felt nothing seemed to happen apart from sheep or farming but after lots seemed to happen with the characters and their lives. The language was beautiful but at times long winded, but it did give some lovely images. Analysing whilst reading for my english coursework was a little hard going and wrecked the story a little but overall I thought it was ok. 6/10

I loved the St. Clares books too. I used to find them at book sales or charity shops and pick them up cheaply.

I've heard so much about The Book Thief on this forum i'm definitely adding it to my TBR list. I had never heard of it before joining the forum. Now all I have to do is find somewhere that has it in stock!

I've given up sweet biscuits for lent so I won't be able to try this - which sounds delicious - till after Easter

I think it's really good how they're spreading books to people who do not have as easy access to them as we do and cannot afford them.

Just thought I'd share some interesting pictures of the camel library of Kenya that I was told about in assembly this morning: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/picture_gallery/05/africa_kenyan_camel_library/html/1.stm There is some information by the pictures but: Each camel carries 2 boxes of books In each box there are 200 books Each child can borrow up to two books The camels travel up to 11km each day There is another library that I will try to find pictures of as well Does anyone else know of any other unusual libraries?

Still trying to decide what to give up for lent. I've already thought about giving up school for lent but somehow I don't think my parents will agree...

Just had rather a lot of pancakes all with sugar and lemon - my favourite:D

Becky Bloomwood has a great flat, a fabulous wardrobe full of this season's must-haves and a job telling other people how to manage their money. The only problem is, she can't afford to live the high life any longer. The letters from the bank are getting harder to ignore, she tries Cutting Back, she tries Making More Money, she tries really hard, but nothing is working. Her only consolation is to treat herself to something - just a little something. A really fun read to whizz through. Some funny moments but at times predictable, I enjoyed following the characters and their issues. A good read, especially on holiday, I hope the film is a good adaptation of this book and I will hopefully be reading the rest of the series. 8/10

My favourite one has always been the first one. It's just the range of emotions you go through in that book!

I know, even if I do start to feel a bit ill i'll still carry on regardless.

And they only showed George in the preview just to keep us on the edge!

Just come back from holiday today so... Just wondering can you read in the car on a journey or does it make you ill? Does it matter what length of journey you are going on? Personally, on long journeys I always used to feel sick reading in the car, but now I have a set routine I go through so I don't feel sick and can read on the move. What about anyone else?
