  1. I have now finished Change of Heart and I have to say, I absolutely loved it. One of the things I love about Jodi Picoult, is the way she challenges your opinions - no matter what they are. There always seems to be a for/against point of view. She makes me think of an opposing argument and makes me rethink my viewpoint. Which I don't think is a bad thing in life to be honest. For me, Change of Heart was no different and as usual, I dug a little deeper to think of myself in that position, in the victims position, in the family of the victims position, the jurys position, the prosecution and the defences position...I like a book that makes me think. Not just intellectually but morally and ethically too. I have to confess, I even had a little cry at the end.
  2. I remember picking this up in WHSmiths a while back and then putting it back down as for some reason I was thinking it was a bit of a 'conspiracy theory' book. Now I'm wondering if I got it mixed up with something else (that's what you get for lazily viewing books with 2 small children in tow!). I do actually like conspiracy theory books, but I had a bit of an overload last year. So in short (finally!) I think I'll give this a try.
  3. Not read it but I think I might have a look for it - sounds pretty good. I have only read one Harlen Coben book before (the title escapes me right now!) and I've another on my bookshelf which I've yet to read (No Second Chance). Might try the one I've got first and then get this if I like it.
  4. Ooo thank you for that feedback - think I might give them a whirl actually! They don't sound too bad.
  5. I came on to say love the avatar pic too - then saw Inver message. Mac doesn't have the same effect on me though!

  6. 7. In all honesty I wasn't wild on it In my opinion, I think SK tries a bit too hard. I know that might not seem like a bad thing in an author, but his books just don't seem to 'flow'. It's not terrible, I'd say it's worth a read - he's just not up there for me as one of my 'must read' authors.

  9. I had a Change of Heart and decided to read this one before The Pact. Ok, poor pun, but it was begging to be said!
  10. As I could only pick one choice, I went with crime/thriller, but I also read quite a bit of horror, true-life and getting into more contemporary too.
  11. I'm planning on picking some of hers up - heard quite good things about her books (well not so much on this thread ).
  12. I don't know if you've read them or not already, but if you like John Grisham, I'd recommend A Time To Kill, The Client, and The Brethren. The first 2 have been made into films but as is often the case, the books are far superior in my opinion.
  13. Will do! In fact, from posting on a couple of Jodi Picoult threads I've now decided on a couple that I'm going to read in order; The Pact, Change of Heart then Plain Truth. If nothing else, BCF helps me decide in which order I will read my TBR list.
  14. Ok so now you're all just helping me plan in which order I will read my To Read list:lol: Ok, so my next book to read is The Pact, then Change of Heart and then Plain Truth. Great review btw - one of the things I love about JP is how she makes you think. The first book of hers I read was Nineteen Minutes and found it to be very thought provoking and made me challenge a few of my own opinions.
  15. The Pact is next on my To Read list, so I think this will be the one I read after The Pact.
  16. Arggghhh!!! That drives me insane - as do people who Start Every Single Word With A Capital Letter. Why???
  17. Now this was a very funny episode!
  18. I've read a couple of her books and found her to be ok. Not one of my favourite authors but readable. My sister, on the other hand, has read all of her books and in her opinion, says MC's earlier books are far better than her most recent offerings. She now likes Mandasue Heller who she said writes like early Martina Cole. Btw, I really enjoyed Mercy and found it to be quite sad - especially the 'one always loves more' part.
  19. I'm pretty sure they're all stand alone novels - as Charm said, I don't think he's ever done a series. Not to my knowledge anyway.
  20. Every day is world book day for me! I won't be doing anything special as such - apart from reading (well it'd be rude not to!) and they normally have a push at my eldest sons school to encourage children to read more.
  21. My spelling, punctuation and grammar are reasonably good anyway, without me having to think too much about them when I'm writing/typing. I do find 'txt spk' pretty hard to follow. I do use some abbreviations but tend to keep them to a minimum and normally for the right forums. I don't use any on here. I don't think reading a lot makes me better at writing correctly, as I would still know how to write correctly even if I didn't pick a book up to read for a long time. I can't say whether it helps others or not though.
  22. If it's all the same with you, I'd rather you was the second character and not the first - just in case it's not all in Patrick Bateman's head... I, am still trying to decide who I'd swap lives with - weeks after setting this question!
  23. I think you've just helped me decide what I'll go onto next as I've nearly finished The Front. Thanks! Read Severed - Simon Kernick A Good Day To Die - Simon Kernick The Trophy Taker - Lee Weeks The Trafficked - Lee Weeks At Risk - Patricia Cornwell Reading The Front - Patricia Cornwell Next To Read The Pact - Jodi Picoult Want To Read (Got) The Tenth Circle - Jodi Picoult Change of Heart - Jodi Picoult Plain Truth - Jodi Picoult Second Glance - Jodi Picoult My Sisters Keeper - Jodi Picoult Suite Francaise - Irene Nemirovsky Trace - Patricia Cornwell Book of the Dead - Patricia Cornwell Fractured - Karin Slaughter The Final Days - Alex Chance Sunstroke - Jesse Kellerman Dexter In The Dark - Jeff Lindsay In The Dark - Mark Billingham Night Sins - Tami Hoag Guilty As Sin - Tami Hoag The Brotherhood of the Holy Shroud - Julia Navarro Road To Perdition - Max Allan Collins Fear - Jeff Abbott Lost Souls - Neil White The Dead - Ingrid Black The Timer Game - Susan Arnout Smith Immoral - Brian Freeman Blood of Angels - Michael Marshall Revelation - Bill Napier Land of the Blind - Jess Walter The Last Place - Laura Lippman Atlantis - David Gibbins The Burnt House - Faye Kellerman Need To Get The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khalid Hosseini Atonement - Ian McEwan The Reader - Bernhard Schlink Defiance - Nechama Tec Songs of the Humpback Whale - Jodi Picoult Harvesting the Heart - Jodi Picoult Picture Perfect - Jodi Picoult Keeping Faith - Jodi Picoult The Case of Mary Bell - Gitta Sereny Cries Unheard:The Story of Mary Bell - Gitta Sereny Trouble - Jesse Kellerman The Brutal Art - Jesse Kellerman Belonging - Sameem Ali The Interpretation of Murder - Jed Rubenfeld The Secret Life of Bees - Sue Monk-Kidd The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas - John Boyne Scarpetta - Patricia Cornwell Martin Misunderstood - Karin Slaughter Darkly Dreaming Dexter - Jeff Lindsay Dearly Devoted Dexter - Jeff Lindsay
