James Patterson could work as well.. Quick reads, pretty mainstream, and everyone can get access to them pretty easily, I think? Plus there's some series in there which make for great book-clubbing. Good luck picking an author!

Kylie, I am GREAT at hairstyling.. I've practiced on MULTIPLE Barbies, and Skipper, too. My speci-ality is drying curly hair stick straight. Line up, people! Oh, you're in, Janet.. Don't act like you're too good for some good ol' hair brushin'! Shh.. not scary.. not scary.. there there. See, Janet?! You've riled her up! Aww that is sweet.. My dad didn't know how to do a thing with my hair. I always looked like such a puffball if Mom wasn't there to fix my hair and Dad had to do it. One side wet and curly, one side dry and frizzy.. he didn't even know to MOVE the hairdryer around my head. Nice. Don't care. Nope. ABSOLUTELY it's extended to all.. But you do have to go at the back of the line of the hair-brushing chain since you can brush but not really BE brushed... You understand. If you bring some other boys along, you don't have to sit at the very back. It's not only the GINORMOUS one, it's the ORIGINAL Barnes & Noble. Fancy, eh??? Have I tempted you enough?? If not, I have a whole slew of bookstores (new AND used) with which to ploy you. Yes, there's room for one and all. Grab your hairbrushes (Ben, you too) and bookbags, move the cat and the Raja out of your way, and laydown your pallets, people!

I've got lots of time to read tonight! Going to curl up with The Help and a cup of hot cocoa.. Very cozy

Cereal for me tonight, yey! It's Raja's soccer nite so we always do something so easy on Wednesday. Can't get more low maintenance than cereal!

I'm off to read for a bit before bedtime.. had to work late tonight, so less time to read than I wanted. Oh well, happy to have a job again! Still working through The Help. It's great so far, just have to find the time to read more at a time!

REALLY long shot, but sometimes there are textbooks on half.com (subsidiary of ebay) that sell for WAY less money.. You could check there and ebay as well. Not sure it will help, but wanted to pass along just in case!

I read "The House at Riverton" and loved it, and have "The Forgotten Garden" on my list.. So happy to hear you liked it! Lots of people I've talked with about it like it even more than THAR.

I'm now excited about Marian Keyes' Brightest Star in the Sky.. It comes out Feb 2010 here in the US

Loved both of these I'm jealous you're reading them for the first time! I did this SAME thing with his other series.. Read the 2nd one first. It was all ok in the end, so I bet you'll be just fine, too! I read about 30 more pages of The Help while at the gym tonight.. Will read some more before bedtime.

I also was disappointed with "Chasing Harry Winston".. couldn't even get through half of it. I liked her other 2 similar novels much better, but can't say I'd run out and buy/borrow any future novels she writes. "Chasing..." just put me off it.

Loved this Picoult book.. one of my favorites of hers. Also, so happy I ran across your list as I had no idea Keyes had another due out here in the US soon. I checked and it comes out in Feb here.. I'll go ahead and add it to my list so I don't forget to track it down then. Sounds like you have some good reading ahead of you.
