The Book Thief. I only picked it up as I was looking for a third book in the 3 for 2 at Waterstones, and my boyfriend picked it up and said it sounded good so I got it. Then it sat on my bookshelf for months, until someone on the forum read it and said they really enjoyed it, so I decided to finally pick it up and it was one of my favourite reads this year even though I wasn't expecting to like it at all
