  1. I like that element too. I really do forget even the most stressful things around me when I read.
  2. Ah now, I'm not good at Irish, but I know how to say hello =P
  3. I am rather addicted yes, but having said that! I multi-task. I might be on here, studying/reading, working on reading projects/blog, chatting to people on ims, doing some art, yada yada, all at the same time!

............ My name is Roxi and I'm a BCF addict :(

  4. I've always loved reading. I think the biggest part of reading for me is learning/perspective. Like now, I'm reading Kate Mosse's Labyrinth, and thats incredibly well researched, so I'm learning about A) a culture in france hundreds of years ago. I also like reading because even when I don't learn anything it gives an insight into other peoples thoughts and minds. Most artistic things give such insights, which is why I like most artistic things =P
  5. I'm a Googler too. They can't arrest us all!
  6. I thought it was for adults too, given its content. But I guess that depends on how its written. I don't really get 'Young Adult' books, as 'Young Adults' get classed as anywhere from 13-18. I would not want my own kids reading at 13 certain books they might read at 18.
  7. Tut, tut, Chimera. Not dedicating time to a nearly-impossible task? Disgraceful (kidding, obviously) I'm only researching because I'm a perfectionist and by God I will fill that list up if I have to change my nationality and write the books myself.
  8. Haha yeah, well that'd get it done quickly. I'll probably work on it in time. I am going to make a list from here and add 5 or 10 every year to my intended reading and do it over time.
  9. Hah I never said I was doing it, I said I was compiling the list
  10. 4 years. If you read a book a week.
  11. Cool, thanks Nellie Look, I did research Lexie! Theres only a couple at the end for you though. Oh and the post above this. Armenia - ["The Long Haul" - A.I. Bezzerides] Lebanon - ["A Balcony over the Fakihani" - Liyana Badr] Botswana - ["Maru, a Novel" - Bessie Head] Barbados - ["The Emigrants" - George Lamming] Bosnia - [" The Bridge on the Drina" - Ivo Andric] Bulgaria - ["Under the Yoke" - Ivan Vazov] El Salvador - ["A Place Called Milagro de La Paz" - Manilo Argueta] Finland - ["Wonderful Women by the Water" - Monika Fagerholm] Guatemala - ["Men of Maize" - Miguel Angel Asturias] Haiti - ["So Spoke the Uncle" - Jean Price-Mars] Korea - [" Land: A Novel" - Kyong-ni Park] Netherlands - ["The Discovery of Heaven: A Novel" - Harry Mulisch] ["In Babylon" - Marcel M
  12. I don't really read any magazines. I occasionally start collecting ones with free models and things but I never complete them. I have a half built orrery from last years space magazine thingy they released, but then I ran out of money. Twas actually a good magazine. Other than that, I read my mother's gossipy ones sometimes, but they're sad reminders of how superficial the world is. Best magazine I have is an issue of Scientific American, a special edition all about 'time'. Its great.
  13. I am if its necessarily. I also love Ian Rankin's Rebus series but I didn't read them in order. So if its a loose connection its fine. Otherwise, I'll keep an eye out for the start of the series. Thanks
  14. Awwwhhhhhh bless, well I'm glad it was a good day ^____^ xx

  15. Lexie, you put me to shame with your research!! I've updated my post too.
  16. Welcome! Hope you're settling in okay ^__^
  17. I've just started it and so far I'm loving it
  18. I love the Carlsberg Irish ad. Bunch o lads in some country and they go up to the bar and the barman says, 'where are ye from?' 'Ireland!' 'Ah Ireland! Sing us a song! Or an Irish dance!' and this hot girl comes up, 'sing... or dance...' And one of the lads goes, 'An bhfuil cead agam dul amach go dt
  19. Is Phil Rickman good?? I have a book by him i got as a present but never got around to reading it. Its called 'The Smile Of A Ghost'
  20. Hiya!

Well I've only read 40 pages, I was actually reading Kate Mosse's Labyrinth but I stopped as its my mothers and I'm going back to college tomorrow minus the book. =P

But so far The Book Thief is great. Really unusual writing style. Surprisingly easy to read :D

  21. Its fine hehe, thanks! =D
  22. cool, will you just copy paste countries 100-198 please? Obviously I'll then have to get you to edit them as necessary, but hey, you get to be involved! =P
  23. Well we can try at least to get as many countries as possible and if we have to resort to books ABOUT countries, I guess thats better than nothing. Lexie - I need to ask you about altering your first post on this thread. Its the second post in the thread (after my main one.) I've run out of characters in the first post, so what I wanted to ask was, would you mind pasting half the list of countries in your post? Otherwise I'll have to put the second half way down here, and I don't really want to do that.
  24. Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
