I used to love cycling when I was a kid. My two favourite localized modes of transportation were bikes and skateboards. I would probably still love both if I was able A) to stay upright and
not more unfit than a really really REALLY unfit person.

I think I'm about to have large quantities of peach & mango juice, chicken on brown bread, strawberry Nutri-Grains and a double choc mocha. I'm hungry and can't decide what I want.

The book is fantastic!!

According to Amazon, their Wordsworth editions are over 900 pages....most paperback editons seem to be 900-1000 pages.

I like cheap chocolate. Less coco more sugar. Anything proper isn't as nice to me.

Your Count is only 700 pages long? Is it abridged? I have a hardback with tiny writing that's over 1200 pages long....

Eugghh hate Lindt chocolate.
Love other chocolate though

I've merged your post with the thread we have about Mo Hayder. If you use the 'search' function at the top of the page you can search for an author's name to see if there are any existing threads

I read another 160 pages of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, so I'm at page 701 and the end is in sight! Well, kind of. Relatively speaking. 300 more to go.

I don't care how many 1 stars a book has either. (The 'I won't read them' was referring to the reviews). I do like to see books split half and half though, Marmite books! Sucks when I hate them, but I love when I love them. I'm really articulate tonight aren't I?
-
Prior to reading a book I WANT to read, I will look to see how many 5 stars and how many 1 stars there are, but I won't read them. If I'm trying to make up my mind about a book, or if I've just finished it, I'll read both 5 star and 1 star reviews to get both views. I never bother with 2, 3, or 4 stars. I only care if you REALLY love it or REALLY hate it

Yeah I see what you mean, can't you just buy 1 of his books and 2 of something else? That way it's not so bad if you don't like the next book.
If there is anything else in the offer - I didn't see anything else I had any interest in when I was in there, which is what led to the 3 Murakami things. I'll see anyway, either way I'm not that fussed.
Rawr, ask him WHAT he liked about it. I'd love to know.

Yeah I was thinking about it; it's not really like me to be so easily deterred. I like to give authors a fair chance, but I can't afford to be buying books I won't like. I'll see. In my local Waterstones, there is a '3 for 2' offer on all his books, and if I liked Norwegian Wood, I was going to pick up another three and get them for essentially 6 quid each, which is a nice deal on new books in WS. But then if I just bought 3 books I don't like.....

Valentine's Day just got more awesome!

Still reading Let the Right One In. Wow this book is taking some getting though.
I've heard that about it. What do you think of it?
-
Books don't disturb or scare me as a general rule.
-
Jack L - Ode To Ed Wood
-
Jack L - Lazarus
-
That's about 17 kinds of awesome.

I now have no idea what to do about his other titles. I've heard this one is nothing like his other books, but does that mean I would like them more, or less?
-
Most people liked it, but it's beyond me why they did. You might want to get other opinions too before dismissing it.

Celluloid Heroes - Steve Vai (because it's better than the original).

The End is nigh, and the Prince of Darkness has been given one last shot at redemption, if he can manage to live out a reasonably blameless life on earth. As a trial run, he negotiates a month of "trying without buying" in the body of struggling writer Declan Gunn. ("Incarnation, the angelic drug of choice. Unlike cocaine, not to be sniffed at.") Luce seizes the opportunity to binge on earthly delights, to straighten the biblical record (Adam, it's hinted, was a misguided variation on the Eve design), to celebrate his favorite achievements (Elton John, for one), and to try to get his screenplay sold, but the experience of walking among us isn't what His Majesty expected: instead of teaching us what it's like to be him, Lucifer finds himself understanding what it's like to be human.
I'm going to be reading this in the next couple of days! *Dances*

A sandwich with tuna and a tomato and herb dressing on wholemeal bread. YUM! Think I might make a double choc mocha in a minute.

On that note of pretty ebay books, I was outbid by significantly substantial quantities of money which, if I had in my possession, I might use to take a short holiday to Paris. Better luck next time!
