  1. Personally, though I'll get the most minimalistic version available if there's no cast-commentary, I think it makes more sense to get a New Moon with something limited/New Moon related rather than one with Eclipse previews.... you're going to see Eclipse ANYWAY in time, but you'll never again get, say, New Moon movie cells.

  2. 2 pounds is nothing compared to what you have lost Abby, it'll go again in no time.

    Congrats Kimmy! :D

I'm not feeling the best at the moment, but when I am I'm going to start walking every day. Or at least, trying to. Even if I managed MOST days, I'd be doing a lot better than I am now. I'm also still eating less rubbish. I've a party to go to in just over a month, so at least I now have a solid goal in mind for which I want to lose some weight, which will motivate me a bit :D

  3. On the other hand ... an illustrated Salem's Lot no less, now that makes it more forgivable and what is this Vlad book about? Sounds very interesting. Is it about our dear friend Dracula at all? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part :D

Illustrated meaning some photos and extra text, but extra content is nice all the same!

Vlad is in fact about the man Tepes himself, it's the 'true' story behind the man who inspired Dracula!

    Linkie to Amazon page :D

I've been waiting for this to come out in paperback since last year

  4. Yup! Three or four of my favourite ever quotes all come from Wuthering Heights. I particularly love the one in my sig. It's just so angry and desperate and heartbreaking all in one :D I often find myself reading chunks of that book out loud, as I imagine they're being said - most of the punctuation in my sig is my own, according to how I imagine it's being said :D

  5. A spiritualist video editor at that!

I'll never forget the time Mary (I think) showed up in a tree-stump somewhere in Ireland, and while the religious nation went nuts, the local priest said something to the effect of, 'sure tis only a tree'. :D

  6. :D Charm I said a slap not a boot up the backside! :D

Man I was sooooooo bold today.

"Ah I'll just have a quick look in Waterstones."

*20 minutes and €36 euro later*

"Four books?!?! How did THAT happen?!!

    *Sigh*

Still, I got two that have been on my Wishlist since last year, one that went on the other day, and a....completely gratuitous one which I cannot justify.

    I bought:

    Vlad - C. C. Humphreys

Something Wicked This Way Comes - Ray Bradbury

World War Z - Max Brooks

Salem's Lot (Illustrated Edition*) - Stephen King

So I'm quite happy with my unintended haul.

    *Illustrated apparently meaning:

    - With 50 pages of 'deleted scenes'

    - A new introduction by Stevo himself

    - And two original short stories

    - Apparently brought to life by some photos.

    I couldn't resist!

Charm, I think I may be needing that boot after all

  7. Well like I said, I don't believe in any of it either. So I don't know why I'm like that.

And, like I said a couple pages back, the possession thing is about the distortion/warping of the familiar/safe into something unknown/dangerous.

I found 'The Hole' to be quite a disturbing, if not scary film. I'm fairly claustrophobic, but even without that it's such a distressing film. I always want to go have a shower and run around outside after watching it :D

  8. I don't agree with them wanting to use SMG either, but I think it would have made for an incredible movie.

I mostly just want to see the Cheshire Cat done in high quality graphics. :D It's SUCH a cool cat!!

ETA: Apparently Scott Faye refuses to let it go. SMG is gone, he has no studio and the script needs revising, but he says it WILL get made. Apparently another game is also in the works, but whether it's a sequel or a remake is unsure. Intriguing!

  9. Ebooks don't feel like real books to me. I'll read them, but it's not like reading a book. They completely lack substance (literally, but also they seem shorter to me) and if I really like the book I'll finish it feeling like I'm missing out on something. So I much much prefer actual books.

  10. @StephenKingman & Nightwish: I was never religious but I won't mock anything religious either. I could barely watch 'God, The Devil & Bob' (funny cartoon) as a teen without feeling guilty about mocking the devil. More for what he represents, than for what he is.

It's possession! Possession terrifies me. Even that scene in 'Warlock' where the medium pretends to be possessed, and then actually IS and her face contorts - still wigs me out completely. Ick.

  11. This thread hasn't been posted to for a while but I decided to revive it as it's great!

    My main guilty pleasures are:

    - watching trashy TV (Americas Next Top Model & The Hills mainly, I turn the TV over if someone else comes in I really am that ashamed!)

    - Pot Noodles, I know they're rubbish but I love them!

    - Cup-A-Soup, with bread dipped in. Yum!

    - celebrity gossip magazines like Heat. I refuse to buy them but I pounce on them whenever I'm in a waiting room and then get annoyed when I have to put them down!

    - buying scarves. I have a whole drawer full of them. That's too many scarves isn't it?

    - like a few other people I have a colouring book which I do occasionally colour in, it's very relaxing :D

    - being really incrediby lazy whenever I get the chance!!

You can NEVER have too many scarves! I buy a new one virtually every time I go out :(

  12. My issue with the Exorcist is imagining walking into my room and seeing Regan sitting in my bed grinning at me. *shudder* I'm glad I'm sitting on my bed right now or thinking about it would freak me out.

Oh, also I watched The Exorcist when I was 12. That didn't help.

OH! You know what scared me when I was small? Dracula: Dead & Loving it. The staking bit with ALL THAT BLOOD. I'd never seen so much blood in my life, fake or otherwise and whatever age rating the film had, it was several years above my age and I was convinced I'd go insane or something :D

ETA: PA or no PA, I still won't put my foot, arms, or any part of myself outside bed covers. I absolutely must be covered up to my chin or I won't sleep.

  13. Yeah I really need to pay more attention in threads! :D I happen to just see little bits and reply without considering them in context!

I'm trying to think of other films that have scared me.... usually films themselves don't scare me, it's my imagination when they're over! :(
