  1. Recommending it on the strength of the first book and a half. And on the extended recommendation of those who had recommended it to me. It's INCREDIBLE. Bookjumper & Steve: Yes. Go forth and obtain. NOW. I has a Gerald Tarrant in my avatar. I love him. So much. Wonderful character.
  2. Oooh I'm glad to see positive reviews, this has been one of those 'will I, won't I?' books for me for a while now.
  3. Tuna sandwich with tomato and herb dressing.
  4. I finished The Coldfire Trilogy. I can't write an in-depth review of the second book, as there isn't a lot to say, and I've written bucketloads on the first book and have a lot to say on the third. So what I'm going to do is tailor a concise review of the trilogy as a whole for this place, and possibly rant in depth on my own blog.
  5. That Coldfire is the best fantasy trilogy of all time, ever. EVER. Gah. Amazing.
  6. I clocked up 270 pages today, finishing Crown Of Shadows, thereby finishing The Coldfire Trilogy and I must say it is officially my favourite series of all time in the history of anything ever. Absolutely perfect, in every way. I am in complete awe of the utter perfection of these books.
  7. I've read another 65 pages so far today... 200 to go to the end of the book. I'm racing through it, because it's made of epic win, but I KNOW the ending isn't going to be happy, because that would go against everything in the trilogy so far - and my brother said it was a perfect ending. And everyone else hated it. I tend to find when the masses hate the end of a book or a movie, it means it was perfect genius, they just prefer poorly executed happily ever afters to justified, credible endings. /rant.
  8. *Wikis* Oh, my. Are they actually good? They sound a bit childish. *Doubtful*
  9. Slight off-topicness is allowed, once it gets back on track easily enough Salmonella Men On Planet Porno? Only you, Sarah, only you
  10. Just had a honey chicken sandwich and am about to have a Riband bar
  11. Yeahh that's a good title. And I like anything involving 'thief' - The Book Thief The Child Thief The Thief Lord All awesome books too!
  12. I don't really know him I can't think of any more book titles I really like.
  13. I've never heard any song about San Jose, but I distinctly remember a guy singing about going to Amarillo....
  14. Makes me think of Amarillo. IS THIS THE WAY TO AAAAMARILLLLO? etc.
  15. I love many of the titles already mentioned, and also The Toyminator, the sequel to The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies Of The Apocalypse. Another I love is The Line Of Beauty. I don't know why, I just do, and I love the cover of the book too, which is a gate with a neat yard beyond, the gate intricate, up close and in focus, and the garden out of focus. Also, The Gates (of Hell are about to open, mind the gap).
  16. Managed to read 115 pages last night (woo!) and am hoping to do about the same again today. Book is a little bit awesome though, so I don't imagine that should be an issue.
  17. Read 75 pages of Crown Of Shadows so far today, want to get up to 100 before sleep. Thoroughly enjoying it - the break between the second in the trilogy and this last book actually did me good, because the writing seems fresh again, as opposed to the same old same old from the last two books.
  18. Wine gums and coke. Sugar sugar sugar I need to be careful, my dad was recently diagnosed with diabetes
  19. Depending on your age, I'd highly, highly recommend The Magicians by Lev Grossman. It's about a nerdy guy (Quentin) who feels rather out of place in life and thinks he'd prefer to be in the land of his favourite fantasy series, Fillory. When his tutor is suddenly found dead, he gets an invite to Brakebills school of Magic. It's only one novel but it spans several years and personally I think it's great. BUT, it's not a Young Adult novel. Not by a very long stretch. In parts it's crude, dark, depressing. It's truly an adult novel. If that sounds like your kinda thing, trust me, it's an awesome read.
  20. Wow, 6 people agreed with what I said and the world didn't implode! Amazing! Rune I agree with you on the quality of books too, now that I like Jake. 2 & 3 are ALMOST good!
  21. It's completely racist, but I'm guessing that's why Katrina wanted to try to rectify the situation to the best extent she can (which is, if the authors are going to be seperated by her manager, that at least the section with Black authors is diverse). (Sorry Katrina, not trying to speak FOR you or anything, just adding my two cents.)
  22. Me too, but I ADORE Canon in D, it's probably my favourite classical piece, so I really don't mind
  23. Today I got a package with a new book to review, one of Anna McPartlin's, and William Hussey's 'Dawn Of The Demontide', courtesy of the most lovely Michelle! I'm thrilled! ETA: My brother also finally finished the third Coldfire book so I've put I, Lucifer on hold until I get through this, as I don't know how it ends! My brother said it was perfect, and beyond that he was speechless, so *squee!*
  24. Happy Birthday!! :D
