  1. My boyfriend ordered me the one on the left over a week ago and it's still not here.
  2. I did worry that I wasn't going to like it. Obviously if you have such high expectations of a book, it rarely reaches them. It's definitely different to what I expected though. I can think of only two criticisms at the moment but I'm waiting to see where the book leads before I'm set on those. :)

Wow, Victorian Lit, that sounds like that would be really interesting. I've just got Social Psychology and then Developmental Psychology tomorrow. The first we're doing about Social Representations which is quite interesting but I'm not overly fond of Social Psy. Developmental is all good though. We're doing about language at the moment.

Haha, I always go into places that sell books alone. People have suffered with me before. Even my boyfriend won't come with me anymore! :tong: If you go, happy raiding. As it's all for charity, you don't have to feel bad about buying more books! :D

  3. Ooh, well I think I'll have finished it by Saturday so I'll have to let you know what I think. I'll be glad to have finally read it; people mention it so much that I've always wanted to know what they're talking about. :D

 Tell me about it! I rarely go bed before 4/5, even when I have a 9am lecture. It's terrible. I've got an 11am start tomorrow which is not too bad I guess!

Is it snowing over there? It's snowing again here. Which could possibly mean that my lectures are cancelled, again!

  4. Oh, good. :D It's been such an amazing read so far and it's got such a heartbreaking feel about it, that I think you assume a happy ending is unlikely. Sometimes happy endings just feel forced and unrealistic.

:crazy:I know, I'm usually up quite late because I drink a shed load of coke and I'm seriously like a hamster. I function better in the hours when everyone else sleeps! I need to sort it out really, hehe. How come you're up so late?

  5. Awww, no, don't worry about it! You weren't to know that I would read the other posts. I do it all the time! :) I'm stupid like that, hehe.

  6. Just over 300 pages. Just after New Years 1999. I nearly always ruin endings for myself, one way or another.

  7. It's because I saw she'd mentioned the book so I stupidly decided to read it. Argh! Oh, never mind. I figured it wouldn't be a happy ending anyway.

  8. Argh! *Pokes eyes out* I just read ii's message below about some male dying in The Time Traveler's Wife! I've not finished it yet! Oh dear. I'm assuming it's Henry, isn't it?

  9. Wow, thanks so much. That means a lot considering there's so many awesome people on here! :) I've got to say that the same goes for you. I know if a thread has a post from you in it, it's either going to be hilarious and/or insightful.

  10. I think this thread is a great idea. Great to look for recommendations as it's all on the post at the beginning. I'm going to read To Kill A Mockingbird soon.
  11. I can read on a plane, boat, train (etc) but not a car. I always get really bad headaches. Saying that, it doesn't always stop me from reading anyway.
  12. :friends0:Huge favourites of mine!!
  13. Wow, I love that! At the moment I keep everything on the computer but I think there's something special about things being handwritten. I think I might buy that! Thanks! EDIT - Just bought the one that you have Nici from Play.com. You lot are such a bad influence, I come on here to check the posts and end up spending money without leaving the house! Looks great though..
  14. Hehe, shh, I try and keep that a secret! Using a multi coloured stripey one at the moment.
  15. It'll be with Americans. Because they'll want to make as much money out of it as possibly. I'm annoyed and I haven't even read it yet!
  16. Oooh, I had my eye on that. I want to read the book first though! Have you read it?
  17. Ok, so, NOOOOOOO! Why do they have to do it?! I hate it when books get turned into movies. Hate it with a passion. :motz:Especially amazing books. I've not actually read The Book Thief (yet) but from what I've heard, it's a pretty great book. And I'm over 300 pages into The Time Traveler's Wife. The film will never live up to it, it's too good! They slaughter decent books with **** representations of the characters and nearly always lose what was special about the book in question. I admit, very rarely, the movie can be better than the book. But to me, that doesn't say a lot about the book. I always have low expectations when it comes to book-to-movie adaptations! Doesn't anyone else feel this?! Sorry everyone. Just a very touchy subject.
  18. This makes me all excited! I'll let you know what I think!
  19. My friend is called Gemma Fox . I bought a book by her (the author) called Caught In The Act but haven't read it. Is she any good?
  20. How did I forget Friends? I love Friends! I love Ross, he's hilarious.
  21. Great choice, I love pizza and potato wedges! Hope you enjoy! I'm not sure what I'll have tonight. I might have sausages and mash or something. I need to stay away from the takeaways. You're not helping, Colin!
  22. I have the first one on my wishlist. I'm glad to see someone rate it so highly, it gives me more incentive to go out and spend more money that I don't have hehe.
  23. I like both of those Gyre! Especially the green one. I'm still waiting on my Twilight bookmark.
  24. I'd be so intimidated by her. I'd probably just stand there speechless, completely useless, hehe.
  25. How are you finding New Moon? And did you enjoy the J.R.Ward series? They're on my wishlist.
