  1. I have entered 1 because i never usually read more than one at a time. However at the moment as a one off i am reading two. Only because one of the books i am reading together with my husband. When he's not able to join me i am itching to have something to read, so i have started another. Like i said though: It's a one off.

  2. I have just finished reading Alice in Wonderland by lewis carroll and now i'm in the middle of Through the looking glass.

I loved it. I was just as good as i remember and i can not wait until the film comes out. I'm especially happy because i feel well and truly ready because i will have read the books. I'm also thinking of watching the cartoon production as well, before i see Tim Burton's.

My favourite bit was when the cheshire cat says:

Dogs are normal because they wag their tails when they're happy and growl when they're angry. But cat's must be mad coz they wag their tails when they're angry and growl when they're happy.

I'd agree with this coz my cat's off his head! And i've been quoting this to everyone since i read it!

  3. My husband has just done the cutest thing for me. Because i'm reading Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy he made me a bookmark with the words 'don't panick written in big friendly letters' across the middle. And a picture of the paranoid android Marvin.

  4. Don't we all, ay. Yeah, I think it's a crime to watch the movie first then read the book. Almost always, the book is just always better.

:D I've put books on my TBR list that i want to see at the cinema this year. Sometimes i'll read a book the second time, because it has been a while since i read it last and i want to refresh my memory before i see it at the cinema.

I read The Time Travellers Wife in good time for the movie. I have read Marley & Me and now i'm ready to hire the film. And i want to read Through The Looking Glass before Alice In Wonderland comes out. I'd be really fed up if i'd done it the other way around.

  5. Hunting unicorns By Bella Pollen

    IBSN: 0330411578

    Pages: 350

Adrift in a rapidly changing world, the Bevan family cling to tradition while wresting with texes, tree blight and the need to keep the family tree in the cuboard.

The Earl and Countess of Bevan - Charming, mad and emotional abbreviated.

Daniel, their eldest son - funny, intelligent, but a hopeless alcoholic.

Rory - his younger brother - sometimes moody, often cross, but mostly furious.

Enter Maggie, am opinionated and occasionally ferocious American journalist for CBS's hard-hiting current affairs show Newsline. Far happier sending back dispatches from the trenches of war-torn anywhere, Maggie is none too pleased at being forced to research a documentory on the decline of England's upper classes.

When these to worlds colllide no one is prepared for the fallout. Brilliantly compelling and deeply moving, hunting unicorns is the story of two brothers with inextricable attachments and one woman with none. A superb romantic comedy that is sharp, poignant, redemptive and very funny to the last.

    My thoughts

When i began the book i found myself wondering why it was called a comedy. I did enjoy what i was reading, but didn't find it particularly funny. However after the first 4 chapters i started to get into it and found myself laughing out loud at some of the ridiculous situations that Maggie gets herself into.

I enjoyed the characters. Especially the Earl and Countess, Alistair and Audrey. Even thought they seem like a pair of nutty snobs to begin with, i found i started to appreciate them and hoped they could keep their home, even though the upkeep of such a property as Bevan, seemed like as real nightmare.

The ending was quite romantic and sweet, but i felt it all dragged a bit too much. I would say i found it mildly enjoyable, but it wouldn't be a book i'd go out of my way to recommend. It was worth reading, i just felt a little disappointed with the flow of the book. I also found Bella Pollens writing a little difficult to follow.

Overall i'm glad i read it. I will give this book a 6/10.

  6. It is so hard to fight the temptation to add more books to my list. I want to try to finish the list before the year ends (and i don't actually think i will, but i'm trying nonetheless), but i won't achieve it if i keep adding to it. I have to have a secod TBR list. One that is for after the list i've got, maybe next years.

  7. I remember in junior school one teacher reading us a lot the Roald Dahl books. I remember The Twits, and Georges Marvelous Medicine the most. I also remember him reading Enid Blyton's, but i can't remember what they were called.

In High school i can only remember the name of:

    A Midsummer Nights Dream

    Macbeth

    An Inspector Calls

I know we read a lot more and i remember loving the books, but i can't remember the titles.

  8. I lost my fav bookmark, which was a cat that sat at the top of the page like it would on a fence, and held the page with its front paw and tail. However i do have a new one of a cat peeking out through a hole in the fence. It's really cute.

  9. I agree with the thing about obsessive Twilight fans, but what's this about jellyfish? Where exactly are you taking your baths?

This jelly fish thing made my laugh! :D I was stung by a jelly fish when i was young and i had quite a bad reaction to it. Now everytime i see one my family say 'oh look they've found out your here and come back for more!' which is really annoying! :D
