  1. Looking for dead people might actually be some kind of voluntary work you do with your dog that's got great sense of smell. Although I think it would be preferred to be called looking for missing people.

  2. Now unfair though this sounds - already word has it that he is the favourite to win. Well with the greatest respect - put an individual who is so very different and handicapped in comparison with the others - folk are going to feel they HAVE to vote for him. I personally don't like feeling that sort of pressure and guilt trip. It was the same with the other BB and the blind chap they had. It really isn't fair on the others to be honest.

I don't think there's any pressure to vote him to win, why should there be?

  3. I couldn't resist either. I've never watched celebrity bb before and had to give it a shot when I noticed that the new season has just begun. I recognised all the American celebs, and Mutya and Ulrika (though I don't know why) but didn't know any of the others.

So far it's been a bit boring. It's also been a bit difficult to understand some of their conversations: so many different dialects! I love Tommy's, by the way!

So far I like LaToya, Verne, Coolio, Terry and Tommy. Tina seems nice too.

  5. After the last post I've read the following books:

    - D. H. Lawrence: Lady Chatterley's Lover 5/10

    - Philip Roth: Portnoy's Complaint 7/10

    - Kathy Reichs: Deadly Decisions 8/10

So I guess that's it for the year 2008. It was a very, very good year. Here's what I thought of 2008 readingwise (from the thread in generel discussion on books):

"This year was superb for me!

    - I joined this forum (which increased my TBR)

    - I've found play.com

These books stood out for me this year:

    - Alain de Botton: How Proust Can Change Your Life

    - Tuula-Liina Varis: Kilpikonna ja olkimarsalkka

    - Ronald Hayman: The Death and Life of Sylvia Plath

    - Joanne Harris: Gentlemen and Players

    - Diane Setterfield: The Thirteenth Tale

    - Sarah Waters: Fingersmith

    - Augusten Burroughs: Dry

    - Markus Zusak: The Book Thief

    - Augusten Burroughs: A Wolf at the Table

    - Mark Haddon: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

    -John Grogan: Marley and Me

    - Stephenie Meyer's Twilight-series

    - Sarah Dunant (Hannah Wolfe -series)

    Writers I discovered:

    - Elizabeth Flock

    - Sarah Waters

    - Terry Pratchett

    - Neil Gaiman

    - Kathy Reichs

Plus, I spent some good times with Sue Townsend's Adrian Mole diaries which I hadn't read in ages."

    Finally the statistics:

    - books read: 78

    - books bought: at least 116 (wow, I never knew I bought so many... things definitely got out of control this year.

  6. I don't like lending books. If I do lend though it'll be some reliable person who knows how much I care about my books and they'll know to take good care of them. People have always returned my books and in good condition too, that's why I can't really understand how there can be so many of you who have gone through the tragedy of someone lending your books and not returning them. It might have something to do with the fact that I always write down the titles and the name of the person who's taking my books

  7. You should be able to create a new shelf for them, Frankie. In your list of books, there'll be a column called Shelves. Click on Edit and there will be an option to add a new shelf. Hope that helps!

Thanks Kylie, that did help! Now I'm enjoying bookreads even more, I was so bothered that Rory books were right there all mixed up with the others :)

  8. I joined and listed all my books, which took many many hours but I'm quite pleased that it's done now :) Now it's easier to see how many books are on my TBR etc. etc.

Question: Can you list some of your TBR books as a separate list of books to be read? For example I'm going to read the books on Rory's books list and would like to somehow differentiate them from the other to-be-read books.
