I've just watched the last three episodes of The Profiler, season 1. The season finale was amazing!! I have to start watching the next season now.

Yay, more proof of it working About the hot shower though, it will dry the skin more than a cold shower would, I think, and of course the longer the shower the more dry your skin will get. My friend goes to sauna even when it's saunalike temperatures outside, he claims that after the sauna he feels a lot cooler for a period of time. Edit: Kylie, that's a really sticky situation about your hair I think I would stick it out if I were you, because I think the more you wash your hair the more easily and faster it will get greasy again.

Echo & Nollaig: I discussed this with a friend a while ago, mostly because it's been so freakishly hot here in Finland. The trick is not to take a cold shower, but a warm/hot one, because that makes your pores (?) open up or something and after the shower you'll feel cooler than usual for a period of time. I tried it and it did help a bit.

I noticed it on your FB feed, the cover looks great and for some reason the title rings a bell. I think I need to google the title to see what it's all about. My own book activities are scarce, I was in the chat room til 1 AM or so and when I went to bed with a book I immediately dozed off

I just told BF about the pants thing, he didn't know about it either. Then I remembered the phrase "I got ants in my pants" and started laughing hysterically. I'm glad BF is very patient with me and never thinks I'm crazy haha

I should've known it all comes down to Smilla I hope the weather's really not that bad that it sometimes seems like autumn/winter is on its way. Because of your Christmas phobia of some years ago, I must say that this book is set during Christmas time. It's a really quirky detective novel, something totally different from the normal American or British thrillers. I've been wanting to reread it for a while now, and there's also a sequel to it. That's a really tough story, it must've been so scary for you hun! He did survive it though, didn't he? And he's alright nowadays? Sorry if it seems like a daft question but I don't think we've ever discussed our OHs/BFs Didn't you find the ending really creative in The Lovely Bones? The way the girl ... uhm.... dealt with the ... dude who did some things? (I have no idea where the spoiler tag is in this new forum!!)

Haha, good story What an eloquent man indeed! I'm currently reading Robinson's Aftermath, I just happened to pick up the novel in a secondhand bookshop and though I'd never heard of him before, the blurb was intriguing and I bought it on a whim. The story's really good so far, in fact excellent, and Chrissy's told me Robinson does an amazing job in all his novels. I was just searching for any threads on him when I stumbled upon your post To Mac. Cheers. frankie.

Anywhere we can read his interview? I just noticed myself that his latest book is already out, called Fear the Worst. I'm definitely going to get it at some point. I've only read Too Close to Home so far, but I was immediately gripped with that one, it was one of the most fast-paced and unputdownable thrillers I've read. I have No Time for Goodbye on mount TBR. Edit: Wow, Mr Barclay's one busy bee! It appears that his next novel Never Look Away is released on 2 September, 2010!

I was just about to post about the new Scarpetta novel, The Scarpetta Factor but Ooshie beat me to it, by a month Anyways, if anyone's interested, the book is on play.com at the moment, only for 5,49e, meaning £4,59. I don't think I'm going to buy it myself, I've still to read about half of the novels and I want to (re)read the whole series in chronological order some day in the future.

So you see how much I knew about this Robinson fella? It was pure chance that I even bought his book because I'd never heard of him and I had no idea the novel's part of a long series. I just liked the blurb and figured I'd give it a try. Should these books be read in a chronological order, like Karin Slaughter novels etc? I'm definitely going to look out for his other novels, thank you so much Chrissy for the info

There's no way I'm going to get away with suggesting Smilla's Sense of Snow, is there? Have you read any Brother Cadfael detective stories? Virgin in the Ice is set during winter, in the 16th century (?). It's by Ellis Peters. I might be wrong but I think Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is partly set during winter, and it's a Rory book as well A Dog Named Christmas by Greg Kincaid is a lovely little feel-good novel about a special kind of boy and a dog. Andrei Kurkov's Death and a Penguin also happens during winter, if I'm not entirely in the wrong. There's also a real penguin, something which we associate with a cold climate John Grisham's Skipping Christmas is also winterish but I personally hated that book and besides, I don't think you particularly wish to read Christmassy novels. Nollaig, how did you like The Shadow of the Wind? I've started reading Aftermath by Peter Robinson. He's a completely new name to me but so far the book's been really gripping, right from the get go.
