  1. Is it good to be back after 4 years? I'm happy to hear you were positively riveted! I miss writing letters and receiving them. Proper ones, I mean. Those were the days! I can't believe she kept Thoby 'alive' for three weeks after his death. What a good friend she was being, but like you say, it's must've been horrible on her own good self, and so maybe she shouldn't have done it.
  2. Bloomsbury's wherever you go... You can't hide from it! The book I previously read was actually set in Bloomsbury or very near at least. It was called The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts, by Annie Darling. I won't recommend it to you because I didn't think it was all that marvellous even though it was a nice enough read, but I do want to mention that when the main character was talking about her childhood favorites, she mentioned Malory Towers a few times

Swegmark is one of the two places I found, and I think they would deliver to the Netherlands, too (it's a Swedish brand)? At least they deliver to Finland. I mean in case you want to check their website out
  4. That's definitely true. I've already planned somethings for the new bujo and won't incorporate things that didn't work for me in this current bujo, or things that I just didn't like in the end.
  5. Okay so basically no matter what we say to the contrary, you will not believe it and will disagree. Okay, fair enough. And what makes you think I've not read true crime book in public, without having any problems? I have, and I will. Edit: I'm not sure how Ian Brady's death relates to this particular issue?
  6. I don't think it's fair to assume we all make the same assumptions about people. I read books about serial killers, and if I saw someone read a book on the topic in public, I would think to myself, "There's a person who likes a bit of true crime, like me. I wonder if s/he's read x book that I liked better than the one s/he's reading".
  7. Thanks Athena!
  8. I've been on a holiday this week. (I'll have the second part of my holiday later in the summer) It's been so nice and envigorating! The first two days I was at a rock festival and saw Rammstein and Guano Apes, which was and is the highlight of the year for me! I also had a massage appointment, which is always nice. Then I spent a few days just lazying about (the weather was not nice and so I was able to do the laundry and just stay indoors with a good conscience!), doing not much at all. And then I went on a 22 hour cruise to Tallinn, Estonia, which was a whole lot of fun. I only have the weekend off and then it's back to work. I do wish I'd read more this week. I've started reading The Crime Writer by Jill Dawson (it's about Patricia Highsmith), and Overcoming Social Anxiety and Shyness by Gillian Butler. I thought the latter might just be an interesting read, but now that I've read 40 pages of it, it kind of hits home. I actually do suffer from social anxiety, at times, and in certain ways. It's not fun, but at least now I have realized it and so it's a relief to know that I'm not some sort of weirdo, but have bouts of social anxiety. More importantly, many people suffer from it and it's not as common as one might think! I hope to learn stuff from the book. Maybe try and make some things easier for myself. Like I said, I've only read 40 pages of it, but it seems like a really readable and educational book, and would probably help people who suffer from social anxiety and/or shyness. If anyone's interested!
  9. Oh blimey! I hope you will like them! Let me know, when you get to them!
  10. This is exactly why I picked this book to read And again, you've hit the nail! I've been unable to read anything other than romantic novels and thrillers for quite a few months now, for some reason. Maybe work tires me too much. Anyhow, there's another book set in a bookshop I read earlier this year and I would recommend it over the one I've just reviewed. It's name is How to Find Love in a Book Shop and it's by Veronica Henry.
  11. 19. The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts by Annie Darling Blurb: Once upon a time in a crumbling London bookshop, Posy Morland spends her life lost in the pages of her favourite romantic novels. So when Bookend's eccentric owner, Lavinia, dies and leaves the shop to Posy, she must put down her books and join the real world. Because Posy hasn't just inherited an ailing business, but also the unwelcome attentions of Lavinia's grandson, Sebastian, AKA The Rudest Man In London. As Posy and her friends fight to save their beloved bookshop, Posy's drawn into a battle of wills with the infuriating Sebastian, about whom she's started to have some rather feverish fantasies... Thoughts: An enjoyable read, but nothing to write home about. Not awfully original, but a likable read all the same. 3/5
  12. Getting a bit warmer over here, and it's supposed to be even warmer tomorrow. Before it goes cold again....
  13. Hello and welcome to the forum! Looking forward to seeing what kind of books you will read this year
  14. Alongside The Crime Writer, I've started reading Overcoming Social Anxiety and Shyness by Gillian Butler.
  15. I'm slowly but surely coming to the end of my first bujo. I'm going to start in a copper LT1917 next. I'm excited about starting in a new LT, but also dreading it! I like my current one
  16. Aww, that's so nice of you, but it wasn't meant to be with me and the book... Let's keep our fingers crossed someone else will come along and love it! I agree, it's nicer to know that it wasn't just you who felt odd about the book in some ways. I would've found it curious if I hadn't liked it first and someone else would've then come along and really loved it. I mean, they are of course welcome to like books more than I do, but you know what I mean I totally agree with you re: your spoiler. Rather unbelievable stuff! Thanks! I hope to continue with it, and read more than 3 books this month It does sound odd, doesn't it! But I can't really say more on the subject, in defence or offence, because I'd be spoiling the book for you... There's something to the book that one doesn't know about before one's read the whole thing. And that's true to all books, of course, to some extent, but with this book it's so different. It's more key to this book. But I can't say any more about it! Actually, even though I have read it, I still don't know what to make of it. And it's been a while since I've read it! I got it from aliexpress. I've only known about the place for a while, but I already know I have to stay away from them, as they have all kinds of cute stuff!

    Jogging Diary

After some hours online, trying to find an online shop for bras my size, I managed to find two places and placed an order the night before last. Today when I got home I'd already received one of the bras, and it fit! Yay! I can now start exercising and possibly even jogging. I'm well happy
  18. Well done you guys!

The couch to 5k is probably very similar to what I was doing, only it was a 12 week regime. I've been thinking about starting it again, but I need to buy new sports bras for that, and so far I haven't been able to find any in my size It's so frustrating! I've not looked into dog walking programs because after work I'm pretty tired and I don't want to commit to something in case I'm too tired to do it. It's a good idea though, thanks! That sucks so bad! But it's good that you can at least cycle. A silver lining and all
  21. I'm sorry to hear what happened with your friend But I'm glad you're talking about it and have better tools to deal with it because of that. I'm glad you enjoyed the Epica gig! And you only have a few more days till you see Rammstein, right? I bet you're getting pretty excited about that They were great here in Finland!
  22. I saw Rammstein and Guano Apes last weekend. Was in the front row to see the latter! It was fantastic.
  23. I've finished reading The Little Book Shop of Lonely Hearts by Annie Darling, and started The Crime Writer by Jill Dawson.
