  1. This is a friendly place!
  2. If it is an average book I continue straight away with the next one. If the book was very good or had things in it that I want to think about, I don't. But so far my breathers have been no more than two days at most. So when I say I continue straight away I mean it very literally, as in put down one, pick up the next one.
  3. Hello!

I saw you sing in a choir. So do I, and I feel just the same way, that it is the highlight of my week. S I thought I'd wish you "happy singing"!

  4. Well, as for dinner tonight, I have absolutely no idea what it will be. Any suggestions are welcome. (In other words, refrigerator empty, I have to go shopping!)
  5. And hope you have a good time here!
  6. Oh, doing fine. Like I said on "what's up today" I have choir practice tonight, and I really enjoy that so that would make even the most miserable day better. Add sunny weather to that and all in all I end up very much on the positive side of life.

Hope you are doing fine too?

  7. I'm fairly new to the forum too.
  8. I made lasagna. And there was enough left so I can have it as lunch tomorrow at work.
  9. I just love snowracers (or anything that you can use to get yourself down a hill in winter). I'm not SO embarrassed about it right now, since my kids are in the right age for them now, and if I take them along, people just tend to think I'm a good mom who plays with her kids. Same goes for snowball fights and snowmen. I don't know what I'll do when the kids get too old for that, though. Wait for grandchildren maybe?
  10. Hope Scotland is good today! It's storming on the Finnish west coast.

  11. House is the only tv-show that I have actually bothered to learn at what time it is. I am a fan. A BIG fan
  12. I have given this some thought and I ended up with the following three: Wuthering heights- Emily Bront
  13. Oh yes, I felt I had no choice really. The perfect way to spend an evening: book, cup of tea & chocolate. And of course it would be dark, storming&raining outside, and I would be sitting in a cosy chair in front of a fireplace.

  14. Being a true Finn, all the songs I like are more or less melancholic. My mother tongue is Swedish, however, if you wonder why I've included a song from Sweden, too. I added youtube links only to the songs NOT in English. Uriah Heep: Lady in black REM: The one I love Thin Lizzy:Whiskey in the jar Nazareth: Love hurts Amy Winehouse: You know I'm no good Metallica: Unforgiven (this was chosen after careful consideration, they have many excellent songs, but since I have some dear memories to go with this one, I ended up choosing it) Bj
  15. Fiction (classics, criminal and romance mostly), some poetry, quite a lot of non-fiction books about history, a few books on gardening (my mom still entertains some hope for my garden so she gives me those), a neat collection of books about economics and finance (work-related) and many cook books. All but the cook books share room. The cook books are in the kitchen of course.
  16. Hi, it's always nice to feel welcome.

  17. Easter Road is a fairly accurate translation of the street name where I live. West coast.

  18. Spaghetti, onion+lentil+sweet pepper+cream sauce. It was OK.
  19. I rely on recommendations from friends, or for example what is said about a book on forums such as this. I also have a couple of trusted librarians in my local library who give their own opinion on books, and also point out books I might like. That being said, on a random tour in the bookshop, it's the cover that makes me pick up the book.
  20. Echo, NOW I get it. When I read I am also very concentrated on what I'm reading. So I guess it's a bit hard to contact me even if I'm in the same room.. I don't know what to do about it though. I guess I just have to tell him to put the hand in my book or something, BEFORE he tries to speak to me.
  21. Dirk Gently is good. But my favourite detective is Mma Ramotswe, by Alexander McCall Smith. I guess my liking her says a lot about me, a lady of traditional build who likes to drink red tea..
  22. My husband seems to think I read too much. I don't think there's such a thing as reading too much. So, now I'm curious, do you all have partners who read as much as you do? And if not, do you argue about this? Do you have any good ideas what to do so my husband doesn't feel left out (because I think maybe he does, even if what he says out loud are all other reasons he can think of why I read too much)? I honestly don't think he will start reading more, but in all other ways he's the perfect guy..
