  1. This is excellent news Raven, thanks for posting your thoughts. I've certainly got less reservations about it than I had before. As a big fan of the novel I'm almost certain I'll enjoy this and I'm disappointed that my faith dwindled in the first place.

Yeah. It's been ages since they've had this kind of notice in the media and it'll do great things for the team spirit I'm sure. Hopefully they can use it as a platform to kick on in the league now because the deserve to be in a better position than they currently are.
  3. I should have included more information in my post. I do now enjoy The Hobbit more, but it wasn't always the case. The first three times I tried to read it I couldn't finish. I'm not sure if that's because of reading Lord of the Rings first and then reading 'Tolkien Lite' (delightful phrase, Raven) afterwards. I guess it just clicked the forth time and I've loved it ever since. Although don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Lord of the Rings books immensely, too. Back on topic, I have a friend that's in the cinema watching now, and I'll be eagerly awaiting her judgement. It'll be the first proper opinion I've had other than the media reviews, and I'll be able to gage more if I'll enjoy it, from her comments. She's also a huge fan of all things Middle Earth, so I expect a very honest set of views on what she's seen.
  4. I have a sneaky feeling a fat man in a red suit might bring me Ted on DVD soon, brilliant film, laugh-out-loud funny.

Yeah was great, be lucky if Rovers knock out Celtic but here's hoping.
  6. That's interesting Noll, I always enjoyed The Hobbit more than the Lord of the Rings books..

  8. I absolutely adore Love Actually, it's one of my favourite films.
  9. Sorry to disappoint. Besides, unfortunately I have to keep Mila all to myself.

I know this thread is a bit of a local team kind of chat but delighted to watch Bradford beat Arsenal in the Capital One Cup (League Cup) quarter-final tonight. I live in Bradford and even had a season ticket a few years ago, but in the end stopped going because of school and now university. They've been on a downward spiral down the leagues for a while now, and this cup run/result will do wonders for them. Three tiers down from Arsenal and they played their strongest team, but Bradford still ground out a win; what a marvellous result for the lads and the city in general.
  11. Now you see, I'm definitely both very excited and terribly nervous for this. I've made the mistake of reading some reviews and they're not hailing it as the classic I expected it to be (like the Lord of the Rings films.) I can't wait to see it, will probably make a rare cinema trip at some stage. Perhaps when some of the fuss has died down and I've finished my exams.
  12. Watched Midnight in Paris last night and thought it was utterly fantastic. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it more because it's about a writer going back and time and meeting other writers, but one of the best films I've watched in ages. Left wondering how I let this one slip me by.
  13. Hey welcome to BCF, I'm sure you'll love it here.
  14. Assignments in at 8:00am this morning after spending all night in the library. Done and dusted. Exams in two weeks, on the final stretch at last.

I remember an old news story about a study that found that a very small percentage of people can function surprisingly well on little sleep. Can't find it now though :(

Yeah I've read things about it. Never slept solid hours so I'm probably one of these people.

  17. Wiggo got this in the bag.
  18. My my, these threads get earlier every year.. In all seriousnesss, good luck on your 2013 reading, and all the best with the (very interestingly looking) challenges.
  19. Pretty much the only time I've ever felt like giving up on my studies. On a rapid downward spiral to failing my second year and I've lost all motivation to stop it happening.

I'm trying Poppy, one day at at a time, I'm working on it - really am. I'm trying Kylie and Poppy, but I'm not sure I can see it through. Julie, not sure a semester off is wise. I've almost finished this one and then it's second semester of second year. I don't think taking a semester off would be a valuable - I don't think I'd get back into it; I'd let myself go too much.

I have exams before the Christmas holidays instead of after this year.. I can't believe it.

  22. 'Set in 1990s England (and originally published in 1994), this novel features several situations that could only exist in an era without ubiquitous cell phones.' I found that in a review online, so I believe that answers your question. Doesn't sound too 'historical' to me.
  23. Thank God the American people showed their sense. Congratulations President Barack Obama, four more years to finish what you started.

48% of them didn't, so you have roughly a one in two chance of getting someone who voted for the other guy.

Yeah .. and they wouldn't be sending me anymore candy at Christmas .. I've got my priorities sorted :) Wasn't keen on Obama saying USA were the greatest nation on earth though .. all my happy thoughts fled for a few secs.

I meant lead. <_< But haha, thanks for the concern m'lovlies. I'm not leaving the board, I'll probably just be quiet on here (but it's been like that for a while anyway). Inver, I'll be okay soon, just need to get my head fastened on right.

  25. I really want to go see it but it's just juggling time at the minute. I will go eventually though.
