I chose it because of the name - many times i buy a book because the name is enticing, so i get interested with regards to new year resolutions... no Mau, not really, but I thought it was a good excuse to make me stick to the exercise

I have to agree with Kate - possibly it was because I watched the film before reading the book (although I usually tend to prefer the book over the film) - I was sobbing through the film, but found the book 2-dimensional in comparison...

Just finished this book and not really sure what I think about it... the ending is especially surprising - here's hoping she made it out of the oppressive culture - but would I ever have left all I know (especially husband & child) behind??

I'm not too suer about this book - while it touches on so many different issues, however in my opinion the author touches on them so lightly that you only think about them in hindsight, or with further discussion. Just like The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, this book kept me turning the pages to find more... but unfortunately they did not deliver on the level of emotions...

I usually prefer the book to a film, however, I recently read PS I Love You after watching the film, and I must say I was let down - the characters in the film were much more lifelike in my opinion On another note, I really like both the book and the film version for Chocolat, which I must admit is one of my favourite books is

this is the one book which sits on the shelf unread... I started reading Book 1 about 4 years ago, when my son was exactly the same age as Dave, and I could not get myself to read through it... maybe some day when he's much older...

I actually really enjoy reading true life stories, and have read quite a few. I would say my all time fave is The Kennedy Women, which I read about 10 years ago, and which talks about the Kennedy's story through the eyes of different generations of women... no wonder they had such succesful men one which i'd love to read is Gabriel Byrne's autobiography - i heard him talking about his life during a TV interview once, and I was positively impressed

I've read the whole Adrian Mole series - this looks really interesting... another one for the ever growing to read list

this is definitely one of the best books i've read for a while. I am always moved by stories of the holocaust, but I found this narrative to be really in touch with reality, as if seen through a child's eyes... the fact that the narrator was Death - I found that completely original

Hi - Ive been introduced to this site by my good friend Maureen, who is has been a member for quite a while... we've found ourselves working together again after about 9 years!! I've always loved reading books, and read any good fiction book. If i had to choose a genre it would be biographies / true stories, though i enjoy any good fiction sometimes i choose books because i like their title, other times because they are recommended by friends. at the moment i'm reading "The bad mother's handbook", by Kate Long, an easy summer read. when i'm not working or reading, I take care of my family (i'm married with 2 kids) and also enjoy gardening, cooking and watching a good film...
