I'm planning on getting some Nick Hornby reading done this morning
-
I finished The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. Very good book. I read around 300 pages today - the story just flew off the page. She is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. I'm now going to start The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks as it has been patiently waiting for me at the end of the sofa!

Ooo I love those - although I find they are never mini! I do the same with the library, which is why I have 14 books out at the moment!

I enjoyed It's The Little Things. I finished her new one The Queen of New Beginnings yesterday. Another good one!

Things I Want My Daughters to Know by Elizabeth Noble

It is very sad, but that is what makes the book special I think. It is honest and heartbreaking. Lovely book -
I've just been to the library and took out: Sparks: The Wedding McNeil: Needles and Pearls Hoeg: Miss Smilla's Feeling For Snow Woodhear: The Forbidden Temple

Today I finished The Queen of New Beginnings by Erica James. She is one of my favourite authors and I have always enjoyed her books. This one was no exception. The story follows Alice, who is running from a difficult past and Clayton, who is suffering in the press due to his ex. This is a simple story. It has depth, but it is only as deep as a chick-lit novel. I enjoyed this one; it was a lovely story. The ending was predictable but this story had regrets and love and I enjoyed it.

Wow I got 100% first go

I did indeed finish my book! Yay! I really enjoyed it. It was a nice read, a pleasant chick-lit book. Now onto Sarah Dessen for some young adult fiction

I've been reading The Queen of New Beginnings by Erica James. Wanted to finish it last night but my eyes were really sore. I've got 70 pages left so should get it done today. Then I'll be moving on to The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen, can't wait!

Your work is lovely. Can't wait to see more of the Geisha, such a pretty piece
-
You can never buy too many books! I'm listening to Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett at the moment but will read some of The Queen of New Beginnings by Erica James soon
-
Ooo I might have to read it, and the cover is gorgeous!

The book came first -
Yeah I have the same thing. I've just filled a bag actually to get rid of. I'm going to see if my sister in law wants any then the rest will go to a charity shop. Oddly, I have the same thing with library books - I take them out and a week later don't know why I did! Although not had that problem with this batch yet!
-
Me too! I'm listening to Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett whilst sewing
-
I was going to come on here and say the same thing! I like Pontalba's too (Hope I spelt that right!)
-
I've started Nick Hornby's The Complete Polysyllabic Spree. Liking it so far
-
I took the Hornby book out the library the other day and started it today. About 30 pages in - so far so good!

I find it easier to get into review books if they are audiobooks. Loads on librovix.com

I have lots of challenges, I love it! I've finished two books today Stardust by Neil Gaimon - amazing book! It was full of adventure and beautifully written. The story just flew off the pages and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it The Dresskeeper by Mary Naylus - I received this as a review book for the site http://teen.chicklitreviews.com/ and I enjoyed it. My review can be found in the thread I started in the young adult section

Amazon synopsis: When I agreed to review this book I did not know what to expect. This is a young adult book that features time travel and 18th century London. I actually quite enjoyed this book and would recommend it to all. Picky is not a pretty, popular girl, who is told by her Mum that she has to spend her weekends looking after her Gran who suffers from demetia. On her first visit she finds Gran in the attic looking in an old box. She convinces her Gran to leave, but on her way down she locks Picky in the attic. For warmth Picky puts on one of the dresses from the box - and finds herself transported to 18th century London, where a man is trying to kill her - although this man thinks she is called Amelia. Picky, sensing danger and adventure starts to investigate this incident... This is a good story. Picky is a girl who is easily likeable. She isn't a popular girl but she is a nice girl who looks out for others. She could have used her brain a bit more - her lack of common sense and knowledge did irk me at times but overall she has a good heart. I imagine she was written as a girl who had better to things to worry about than school to appeal to the younger readers. I think the issue of time travel is well dealt with. Fortunately for Picky there was always a reason to turn up in the dress maker's attic and she was able to leave the 21st century due to her Gran's condition. The history seemed decent enough but I'm not sure Picky would of had quite so many conversations with her footman Jones. The book was exciting and a quick-read. I found myself wanting to know what was going to happen - I was hooked and I really enjoyed this. It is aimed at teens but as an adult I enjoyed it. There is history, time-travel, suspense and bad dresses - what more could you ask for?! 4/5

That would probably end up in me getting hurt! I ended up taking the books off to get it

I finished Stardust! What a great book Now I think I will read Erica James: The Queen of New Beginnings - although it is stuck at the bottom of my pile of library books:
