Finished The Help last night. Such a great book! Most likely going to read Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann next.

Is anyone reading anything from this at the moment? I'm buying books to take to Venice with me and thought I might buy a couple of Rory ones
Not at the moment, but Valley of the Dolls has been on my read sooner rather than later list, but maybe you all read that already?

Happy reading bookworm
I haven't Erin but The Crimson Petal and the White sounds really good, its one of those books I kept seeing and never getting around to investing in it. I hope you get some more recommendations.
Thanks, Weave! If you ever get around to reading it, I'm sure you wont be disappointed.

About three quarters of the way through Augusten Burroughs Running with Scissors. I know it's a memoir but I truly hope he's made at least some of it up because if not ... :o
I felt the same exact way when I read the book.
Off to read some more of The Help before bed.

The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber
Synopsis:
Meet Sugar, a nineteen-year-old prostitute in nineteenth-century London who yearns for escape to a better life. From the brothel of the terrifying Mrs. Castaway, she begins her ascent through society, meeting a host of lovable, maddening, unforgettable characters on the way. They begin with William Rackham, an egotistical perfume magnate whose empire is fueled by his lust for Sugar; his unhinged, child-like wife Agnes; his mysteriously hidden-away daughter, Sophie; and his pious brother Henry, foiled in his devotional calling by a persistently less-than-chaste love for the Widow Fox. All this is overseen by assorted preening socialites, drunken journalists, untrustworthy servants, vile guttersnipes, and 'ladies of the night' of all stripes and persuasions.

Has anyone read other books by Faber that they'd recommend?

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Synopsis:
Aibileen is a black maid in 1962 Jackson Mississippi, raising her seventeenth white child. She's always taken orders quietly, but lately it leaves her with a bitterness she can no longer bite back. Her friend Minny had certainly never held her tongue, or held on to a job for very long, but now she's working for a newcomer with secrets that leave her speechless. And white socialite Skeeter her just returned from college with ambition and a degree, but to her mother's lament, no husband. Normally Skeeter would find solace in Constantine, the beloved maid who raised her, but Constantine have inexplicably disappeared.
Together, these seemingly different woman join to work on a project that could forever alter their destinies and the life of a small town-to write, in secret, a tell-all book about what it's really like to work as a black maid in the white homes of the South. Despite the terrible risks they will have to take, and the sometimes humorous boundaries they will have to cross, these three women unite with one intention: hope for a better day.

I simply loved this book! I originally wasn't sure about reading this book, way too many friends were raving about it and I felt there was no way it could live up to all the hype. Happy to say I was wrong. Very wrong. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen, and at the same time, I didn't want it to end. I'll definitely be re-reading this book again one day.
