  1. After so many people that I know raving about how good this series was (and of course discovering that some of it was filmed in Iceland) Coran and I went and bought the season 1 and 2 DVD's to watch. We are both completely hooked, and I can't now believe that it took us so long to watch these. It is rare for me to sit through a whole show as riveted as I was by this - we watched the entire season 1 over the weekend, and I can't wait to see what happens next in season 2. I have downloaded a copy of the soundtrack too, which is amazing.
  2. They are having a talent show at work in June which both staff and clients have been invited to take part in, so thinking it would be a really good laugh I decided to enter with Coran (my husband, even though he doesn't work there) doing what we have decided to call the mop and bucket dance. The first rehearsal was yesterday afternoon and it was brilliant - we bought the house down and the clients haven't stopped talking about it all day !
  3. We went out for lunch today as we were shopping in Guildford. I had samples of 2 different dishes - red lentil and mango bake and cheese and leek bake with pineapple coleslaw and beetroot and apple salad. Dessert was lemon roulade.
  4. Cheese omelette with a large salad and loads of coleslaw.
  5. The Places You Find Love - Quincy Jones
  6. A really honest and interesting chat with my boss this morning - he said some lovely things that made my day.
  7. The lovely people from our horticlutural department saving the best bit of broccoli from the garden for me - the cup of tea they made me this afternoon was nice too !
  8. We had some Quorn chunks with pasta and various vegetables with sweet and sour sauce.
  9. That sounds interesting. What cheered me up more than anything today was the glorious weather - and also finding out that they had baked a fresh batch of gluten free scones in the kitchen.
  10. It was beautiful here as well - not sure what the temperature was but felt like it was at least 20 degrees. If it's like this again tomorrow, I might have to wear my shorts to work and give all those men a thrill.
  11. Two that spring to mind for me would be The Rook by Daniel O'Malley and the Above his Station books by Darren Craske. The latter would I imagine have to be animated. The very thought of seeing the rat on the big screen makes me break out into a smile, especially the lion sequence from book one. Fans of the books will know what I mean !
  12. Isaac Hayes - Black Moses - prefect for a warm spring afternoon.
  13. It has been a beautiful day today - I had to find excuses to deep clean the horticultural department so that I could spend a bit more time outdoors. If it's like this again tomorrow I might have to get my legs out and give all the men a thrill - I will have to wax them first though.
  14. It was certainly warm today here as well - not sure how warm, but probably around 13 or 14 degrees. Warm enough to sit outside reading, which is what counts.
  15. And we had asparagus and leek risotto with a big salad.
  16. We went out for a pizza yesterday - Pizza Express do some yummy gluten free options. We shared a mixed salad and a lovely pizza with artichokes and all sorts of yummy toppings followed by lemon sorbet. That was our Easter treat after spending a day and a half getting rid of all our old junk.
  17. Windy but exhilarating - I love this sort of weather.
  18. Sorry to hear about your chicken Athena - I am not sure sadly though what can be done. As for the wind, it was pretty blowy last night and most of today. Actually though I find it exhilarating to be out and about in these conditions - it reminds me of Lundy, the island that I love so much, which is frequently like this. I have been trying to talk Coran into going there for Christmas this year, now that I don't have to work at that time of year, but need to get car serviced first to see if I can afford it. Last year they had a spoof of Britain's Got Talent at the place where I work, which both staff and clients were invited to enter. I was too much of a chicken last year as I hadn't been there that long, but this year I have decided to give it a go. Coran and I will be entering as a double act (hopefully this will be allowed, as Coran doesn't work or volunteer there) called The Mop Heads, and we shall be doing The Mop and Bucket Dance. It should be a right laugh and a good excuse to make a complete fool of myself.
  19. Yes, I saw that and downloaded a copy - it has been on my wish list for a while
