  1. Cheers Inver! Good news - we have a home tie in the next round. Verwood Town beat Plymouth Parkway (the reigning champions of our own league) on Saturday, so we need to be on top of our game on 6th December.☺

  2. The long trip to Southampton paid off! Although we opened the scoring against Folland, by half-time we were 2-1 down and had a man sent off for shirt pulling. The lads dug in though to prevent another Folland goal and with just 4 minutes left on the clock we equalised to force extra time. Folland's man advantage couldn't stop us from scoring the winner on 117 minutes!

I'm looking forward to the last 32 draw on Monday. Wouldn't mind a home tie this time though.☺

  3. League matches seem a bit of a novelty for us at the moment but we were pleased with a great 4-1 victory last night. Two penalties were missed but we could laugh at the second as we were already 4-1 up.

Next up we play Folland Sports in the FA Vase on Saturday. Hopefully the nerves won't have too much of an effect!

  4. Just the one Premier Division game postponed today Inver, and it was our away trip to Bovey Tracy! They're the team who couldn't raise a side to play us a few weeks ago.

We've now dropped to 5th but have 8 games in hand over our nearest rivals. It'll be a busy second half of the season in 2015!

  5. We play Folland on the 22nd. As for today, we were due to play Elmore who unfortunately withdrew from the League a few weeks ago. So it was a 'feet up' day for us.

  6. We've just heard the draw for the 2nd round of the FA Vase and we have an away trip to Folland Sports(!) I don't know much about them other than that they're based near Southampton and they play at Step 5 (we're at Step 6). It'll be a long journey but I'm looking forward to it!

  7. Well done to the lads Inver. At least they managed to keep the game in the balance until the end. Is the A-League above or below their level?

We're still clinging to our Wembley dream after a 4-0 win in the 1st round of the FA Vase yesterday. Our opponents were the same side that we beat 7-2 last month. It would be nice to be drawn against a team from another league in the next round.☺

  8. We had a nice 2-0 victory over a pretty decent side in the League Cup yesterday. Last season we were the beaten finalists, so here's hoping we can go one step further this time! Although the cup holders also made it through to the next round.

  9. They may not be getting the results at the moment but it sounds like they're certainly not afraid of hard work. With that attitude things WILL start to improve.

We had a day off yesterday but another of our main competitors (the last unbeaten side) tasted defeat and we only slipped to fourth. Good times!☺

  10. Tonight I witnessed the weirdest optical illusion I've ever seen in football.  Our opponents absolutely tore our defence to shreds yet we still managed a 5-1 victory!

  11. We managed to supplant the third place side by beating them 2-0.  The league leaders have had a two game wobble and suffered their first defeat of the season yesterday.  We're now four points off the top with two games in hand. I'm trying not to get too excited at the end of September!

Any joy with your boys Inver?

  12. So not all bad news then!

We avoided a potentially awkward game by winning 3-0 to reach the 2nd round.  Meanwhile, in the league out two biggest rivals fought out a 0-0 draw. Optimism is getting easier!

  13. Good luck in your Cup Inver! We're starting our League Cup journey tomorrow.  This is the competition in which we finished runners-up last season. Tomorrow's opponents are the same Division One side that we beat in the semi-final.

Bad Omens - three Premier Division clubs played Division One opposition today and they ALL lost! :o

  14. I'm sure they will. And I have faith that things will turn for Glendale! (I've never been wrong about a Scottish football prediction. Although this is my first one.)

  15. Sounds like Andy has more reason for optimism than he had last season!

We managed a pleasing 8-1 win in the FA Vase. Technically that made two victories in one match as our opponents in the next round have been removed.

  16. Last weekend didn't go as badly as I feared.  We were in the FA Cup against a side 2 leagues higher and managed to equalise twice before they put us out with an 88th minute winner.

We still have another chance to reach Wembley next weekend though as we play a lower division side in the FA Vase.

  17. Glad to hear better tidings from Glendale!

Technically we lost our 100% winning record as our opponents on Saturday couldn't raise a side.  The official result was 0-0 but we were awarded the 3 points. I think that the game should have been re-arranged, but league rules say otherwise. We missed out on a useful increase in our goal-difference there.

Still, we're back in action on Tuesday against the league leaders.  Then we'll see what we're really made of!
