    I liked Bex at the beginning - I wonder if she is being affected by being in the house? - she seems to have radically changed into a monster. I think Rex has touched a raw nerve alluding to her weight and all the beautiful young men adore Jen - it must affect her self esteem

    I saw some of Neil Diamond this afternoon - it was quality! The crowds look really daunting though - if you are stuck at the front - how do you get out for a pee!! Also saw Will Young for one song

    I have never done it before either and have no idea whether the previous review I did will make it into the magazine. When I submitted they said thank you and that was all! - I got another book so it must have been ok-ish.

    I have been sent another book to review for New Books Magazine. Looks interesting - it's called At a Loss For Words by Diane Schoemperlen - she is Canadian and this looks like her second novel. She won the Marian Engel award for Women Writers in 2007

    GCE - Northanger Abbey - Jane Austen - a bit dull for a fifteen year olds Henry IV Part 1 - desperately dull and irrelevant at the time. Tennyson poems - I really liked the Lady of Shallot. I was cross with my English teacher at the time because she could have chosen a different selection. My sister 2 years earlier studied 'Brighton Rock' by Grahame Green - how good was that? She also studied modern poets and a much better Shakespeare play.

    Me too in my early 20's - As a teenager I read Georgette Heyer - I wouldn't choose either author now.

    It's a great read - I didn't notice the mistakes!! - There is a review in the Guardian today comparing the author's style to Philip Pullman
