  1. I actually finished Tomorrow, When the War Began last week. It was an easy read but pretty enjoyable. I snapped the first 5 books up on Kindle years ago when they were 99p each and have only just got around to reading it. I will start on the 2nd one soon.

Great to hear, Tim. They really do get better as they go along, so hopefully you'll enjoy the next four books even more. :)

Oh great- the 1st makes you automatically want to read the 2nd?   :giggle2: It's my next read.

Knowing me, I'd want to read all 7  At least the first 3!

:giggle2: They're such quick reads though, and so much shorter than many YA reads these days. The first three books combined are probably still shorter than Divergent!

  2. I finished Jon Ronson's The Men Who Stare at Goats. Crazy stuff.

I have one book on the go from my book jar and I still have another to start, but I couldn't resist choosing yet another from the jar. It's Haruki Murakami's Underground, in which he interviews people involved in the sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway in 1995. I'm a few chapters in and it's really interesting.

  3. From the post today came Anastasia Krupnik (3 books in 1) !!

The cover design is different from the one in the Amazon used section, but that's okay, it was cheap as chips .

The book was printed in 1992, and the fashion of clothes and spectacles of Anastasia are so 90's :D . I can remember wearing specs of that size at the late 80s/ early 90's, and they were so fashionable then. :giggle2:

The Anastasia covers are so terribly hideous. :( I have the same type of covers. I really hope they republish them with nicer covers one day. The books deserve it!

I used to have huge glasses in the late 90s. Whenever my mum now sees a photo of me from that time she apologises for putting me in those glasses. :D

  4. We have to turn our clocks back for the end of daylight saving on Easter Sunday. Does that mean I get to stuff my face with chocolate for an extra hour? :D (Probably not. I'll be at Mum's place and I'm sure she'll be trying to ration my chocolate so I don't go overboard.  :blush2:)

  5. The World's End

Having a lead character who has no redeeming characteristics was a bold choice, and sadly one that failed.  This is no Shaun of the Dead, or even Hot Fuzz.

Definitely not the best Pegg/Frost offering, but I enjoyed it enough to have watched it a couple of times. The ending is a little odd though.

I did like the ending a lot, Kylie, it was very fitting, I felt :D

    Yes indeed!

  6. Yesterday a local cookbook was released. My dad is in it, along with quite a few other people from this city (they interviewed him and took photos, I met the interviewer and photographer too.).

Very cool! You should get him to autograph it. :)

  7. Forgot to take my reading glasses to work today. My eyes aren't too bad with my normal glasses, but I did have to sit further back from my computer at work to be able to make out the font … then had to increase the font on my Kindle to MASSIVE so I could read at lunchtime.  Glad to be back at home with them on now and actually being able to see the screen clearly.

Gosh, I feel for you. I can work without my glasses, but I still feel totally lost if I misplace them. And all I can think as I look for them is 'searching for my glasses would be so much easier if I had my glasses on'.  :giggle2:

  8.

I'm just watching the highlights now! :D  I already know the result, but I was at work, so only saw the scores, so it's quite good to watch some of the play this evening.

Then you probably know that I'm a very happy chappy right now! :D It should be a good game against New Zealand on Sunday! Can't wait.  :exc: NZ beat us in an earlier round (our only loss) so hopefully that'll put the wind up the Aussies to fight even harder this weekend.
