That's what you get for reading so many books! I should have mentioned that it doesn't have to be just one answer for each question. I can never stick to that myself and I don't plan to this year! Ooh, I'd like to read this!
-
I may be a little early in starting this, but it's one of my favourite threads of the year and I can't wait any longer. Welcome to the BCF Book Awards 2015! Here's where we can share all of our favourites for the past year. I know there's a month to go, but feel free to add your answers now and come back and make additions/changes later if you want to. I don't read as quickly as many of you, so I'm pretty much ready to distribute my awards now. Your favourite read of the year? Your favourite author of the year? Your most read author of the year? Your favourite book cover of the year? The book you abandoned (if there was more than one, the one you read least of)? The book that most disappointed you? The funniest book of the year? Your favourite literary character this year? Your favourite children's book this year? Your favourite classic of the year? Your favourite non-fiction book this year? Your favourite biography this year? Your favourite collection of short stories this year? Your favourite poetry collection this year? Your favourite illustrated book of the year? Your favourite publisher of the year? Your favourite audiobook of the year? Your favourite re-read of the year?

Really? My boy once got to around 7.2 kg. But he's just generally a big cat. When I picked him up from the pound, he was supposedly the same age as the other kittens there, but about twice their size. I was told he had to lose a bit of weight so he's down to, I think, 5.8 kg now. No one says he looks overweight anymore, so I guess that's a good sign. But then the vet was a bit concerned because she thought he had lost the weight too quickly (over 12 months). There's no pleasing some people! It's now the moulting season and, judging by the amount of fur suddenly covering my floors, I'd guess he's lost another 0.5 kg.

You've been a busy reader, Muggles. Interesting info about the newest Millennium book. I hope to read it one day.
-
I watched the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead and am now watching Talking Dead. No more TWD until mid February.

Totally understand and agree! I didn't get as far as you though. I'd like to finish it before the end of the year, but I'm also scrabbling a little to complete my Goodreads challenge, and GG&S won't help with that! I've read two books in the last two days—unusual for me! Only short ones of course: Jacqueline Wilson's The Illustrated Mum (quite a heavy story for a young adult book, but very good) and Roald Dahl's Rhyme Stew. It's been many years since I last read any of Dahl's poetry; I'd forgotten how good it was. Still also trying to get back into Inkdeath.

I'm not surprised that Denmark is the happiest country if they invented Lego. I finished Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters last night. Loved it! I think it's my favourite Discworld to date. I thought I'd read the first couple of pages of another book when I went to bed...and ended up staying up until after 5 am to read the whole thing. It was Leanne Shapton's Important Artifacts and Personal Property from the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion, and Jewellery. The entire book is written in the form of an illustrated auction catalogue. As you read through the items, you learn about the relationship between Doolan and Morris. Quite cleverly done. Going back to reading Inkdeath now.

Just saw a fantastic joke on Supernatural...a joking spanning many seasons! Back in season 3 (I had to look it up to make sure), this happened in a sheriff's office: It cracked me up at the time and has remained one of my favourite ever Supernatural moments. Tonight I was watching episode 4 of season 11 and Dean had to kill a deputy sheriff (that's not really a spoiler, I swear). He then got on the phone to Castiel and said 'turns out I did shoot the deputy'. I got the reference immediately and cracked up again. Love this show!

No, no need to use spoiler tags on my account. I'll avoid the earlier part of the thread until I've caught up. Cool info about Barry's father. I only know him as Dawson's dad on Dawson's Creek. Thanks for the info on the order of the shows. I might stop watching The Flash for now and watch the first couple of seasons of Arrow. Then I can watch them roughly in the order they aired. Goodness, it's hard keeping up with all of the superhero shows! I saw that you enjoyed the first episodes of Jessica Jones. I love the actor who plays JJ, so I'm really looking forward to watching that as well.

Agreed, Loved the end of the ep too. Should be a good episode next week! And then the dreaded wait for the second half of the season. I know how I'll be spending Valentine's Day next year!
-
I'll say! There's quite a few seasons, isn't there? I last watched the latest episodes of The Walking Dead (brilliant, just brilliant) and The Good Wife (Eli Gold is one of my favourite ever fictional characters; Alan Cumming is wonderful and cracks me up!)

I haven't read the posts here so as not to spoil anything for myself, but I'm about 11 episodes into season 1 of The Flash, having just started it recently. It's great! I got a little confused when Felicity and the Arrow showed up because I didn't know about the other show, but now I realise there's a bit of crossover. Should I be watching Arrow and The Flash episodes in any particular order? I mean, should I have started watching Arrow first? I have to say, from the snippets of the Arrow characters that I've seen, I think I'm really going to enjoy Arrow too.

I'm about halfway through Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters and really enjoying it.

Where does everyone keep their bookmarks? (Besides inside the books ) I've got quite a few now and keep them in a cardboard box. They're kept neat, but they're not exactly 'on display'. I think someone here (Devi?) keeps them in a lovely container. Any ideas for how I can display mine? I tried Googling ideas but was frustrated by the number of sites referring to website bookmarks instead of 'real' bookmarks. Some genuine collector types seem to store theirs in plastic sleeves in binders, but they're still not on display as such. The problem is that they're all different shapes and sizes. I have magnetic bookmarks of varying sizes, some with feathers, others with beads etc.

I started watching The Flash recently. I'm up to episode 6 of season 1 and really enjoying it. I also watched the first couple of episodes of The Little House on the Prairie. Never seen it before, but it's good so far. I've caught up on my favourite shows that were airing while I was away. The most recent episode of How to Get Away with Murder was fantastic!

I've been reading Wyrd Sisters today. It's going very well.
-
I watched two Hitchcock movies today: Shadow of a Doubt and Spellbound. Then I watched The Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. All very entertaining.

I'm back home from my three-week holiday in New Zealand. Gorgeous country and very friendly people. I'm happy to be home, though. I couldn't buy many books while I was away but I bought quite a few lovely NZ bookmarks. I may post pics at some stage. I only bought two books: The Lord of the Rings Location Guidebook by Ian Brodie, which discusses the filming locations of the movies, and Quake Cats by Craig Bullock, which is full of lovely photos and stories of cats that survived the earthquakes in Christchurch (with proceeds going to cat charities in the area). I managed to get some reading done while I was away. I finished The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule (awesome book), The Sisters Brothers by Patrick DeWitt (very good), Inkspell by Cornelia Funke (meh) and the short I Murdered my Library by Linda Grant (good). Even though I was underwhelmed by Inkspell, I have to finish the trilogy, so I've started Inkdeath. I've also started Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters, which is going well.

I'll have to reply to your other posts when I get home, but I'll just give a brief update for now. I've always liked Julia Stiles, and I love her role in the show. Last night I watched the first episode of season six. I'd forgotten who the guest star was for this season, but he's another actor I'm fond of (from his role in Roswell). Quite a few funny moments in this episode.

I think TSHDT? is on the Rory list. There's an episode called They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They? and it's the episode with the 24-hour dance marathon (similar to the book). It's one of my favourite episodes.
-
I'm about 3/4 through season 5 now. Trying to get to the end of the season before I go on holidays. I love the guest star during this season .

Fab reviews, as always! I think I'll add Our Endless Numbered Days to my wish list. I was just looking at the first page of this thread and saw that you've just passed 100 books read for the year. Congratulations!! I wish I could read that many books in one year. I managed it once, although I don't know how!
-
Yeah, I suppose they can't have them getting comfortable for too long!
-
Yes, I've read They Shoot Horses, Don't They? and would agree that it's a bit similar to The Day of the Locust.
-
They're the same book, Kay. Just given different names in different countries. Annoying, hey? I read about 40 pages of The Stranger Beside Me before I went to sleep last night. Luckily I didn't have any nightmares afterwards.
