  3. Wow Kylie - do you read at the same rate you acquire
  4. It sounds interesting. I'm curious now after reading the views on amazon. Opinion seems divided. Shame you were disappointed by it though. Perhaps I will give it a try one day.
  5. Lovely photos Nici. The one's with Brian Dowling are great! And what a fab dress.

  6. I almost put Anna Karenina on my xmas list - but I am thinking of borrowing war and peace now instead. If I like it I can get AK another time. It is quite a daunting prospect though.
  7. I know - Hiro!! I love the sensible Syler - I loved the domesticated version that was in the future, that was hilarious. Roll on wednesday - I am loving this series
  8. Thanks for the comment. I've only read the first chapter as I'm trying to get other stuff finished before I get stuck in. I thought it sounded interesting. It looks like a good light read.
  9. Oh you must. As JB says - wonderful.

    Hello!

    Hi and welcome
  17. I thought the first half was excellent, page-turning stuff. The second half was disappointing - but I still think it's worth a read. It's also impressive given it was the first of a kind. Yes there were other vampire stories before this, but this really defined the genre.
  18. Hi and welcome
  19. Thank you Kate :)

  20. Those are very restrained lists! So far I have asked for The Vampire's seduction - Raven Hart Essential Tales - Anton Chekhov Marley and Me - John Grogan The 5 people you meet in heaven _ Mitch Albom And there are more on my list for when other people ask what I want... Including Dear Fatty - Dawn French Beyond Ugly - Constance Briscoe To be fair, this is a xmas and birthday list - I was a December baby
  21. Except that I'm a celebrity is ITV

    Hi

    Hi and welcome
  23. Well I finally finished Persuasion last night. I did enjoy it, but I wouldn't rush and read another Austen. She's very verbose, I do like the language, and I enjoyed the story and the characters, but it takes a bit more effort to read. I prefer modern prose, where the action is revealed rather than explained. I did enjoy the humour in it. 7/10. I'm still plodding along with The Mind of God. Hopefully I will make some good progress now I've finished Persuasion. I'm enjoying it though. It has some interesting ideas. I find Paul Davies much more accessible than say, Stephen Hawking. Although I don't pretend to understand it all completely, I have much more chance with him than SH. After just a few chapters of A Brief History of Time I was completely out of my depth. Next fiction book I think will be one of the Lucy Diamond ones from the comp.
  24. True. I'm ok because I just sky plus it and watch it in one go at the weekends. If I didn't have sky plus I'd probably end up missing it. That must be very annoying.
  25. I'd like to read some Murakami. Also OH is very into Japan and likes reading also. What would be a good one to start with?
