  1. Oops missed this one. Welcome to the site Leanne. Look forward to chatting with you.
  2. Yes. I think you need to have played the games to really enjoy the books (according to my OH)
  3. I read this when I was about 18 and I remember finding Holden irritating too. I should probably read it again to see if I still feel the same way 16 years on.
  4. Home made shepherd's pie with steamed vegetables followed by melon.
  5. My OH is reading the space wolf series at the moment (warhammer 40k). He seems to be really enjoying them.
  6. Cheese and onion quiche with salad. That's a lie. We're having penne bolognese now, made with quorn.
  7. It's on my wish list. I am looking forward to reading it one day. So many books so little time
  8. Wow that's interesting. I might like to read that myself. If you do read it tell us what it's like.
  9. Thoroughly enjoying Great Expectations on audio, read by Hugh Laurie. It's a bit of a cheat because it's abridged, (I assume, as it's only 3 hours) but I did start reading Great Expectations once and gave up half way through . I think there's very little chance I would have another stab at reading it so this is an easy way to get some completion. It's very well read by Hugh Laurie. He really brings out the humour in the book. Most of the voices he does for the characters are great, but some of the London ones do tend to sound a bit Australian . And the voice of Estella sounds like an old woman. But I am definitely glad I bought this set of audio books. I'm loading them all up on my PC and will play them on my mp3 player. Can't wait! The Stand is still tripping along nicely. I'm on page 764. I wonder if I'm ever going to finish it
  10. Mmm that sounds delicious. They do have some nice desserts actually. Last time I think I had some kind of toffee icecream sundae. It was very very nice
  11. ... that you eat at regularly We quite often go to Harvester. The food is cheap and I love all the free salad We also eat out at Frankie and Benny's quite a lot. They often seem to have those near cinemas, so we often combine the two of an evening. Pizza express is fab in my opinion. I like going there before a night on the town. A pizza and a couple of glasses of wine to start the evening off ... loverly. I love the soho pizza, the one with rocket leaves all piled over it.
  12. Went out for lunch today to the Harvester. I had two bowls of salad (well it's only salad, I was hungry and our food took ages ) and garlic and mushroom linguine. It was delicious. OH doesn't like mushrooms, linguine or creamy pasta sauces so it was heavenly to be able to eat my favourite type of pasta

    Hello

Welcome Lilac. Nice to meet you.
  14. I think that's the best approach. It was how I read it anyway.
  15. I think that boat bit is more interesting. Hope it picks up for you. Sounds like you have a lot of books on the go at the moment.
  16. Oh dear. Are you alright ii? Homemade chicken and veg soup tonight. I made it last night, and even though I say so myself, it's delicious
  17. Started Great Expectations the other day on audio (it takes me ages to get through audio books) The Stand is riveting at the moment. Fantastic stuff!
  18. How did you get on with Life of Pi in the end? Did you finish it?
  19. Thanks I'll let you know what I think of it.

    Hello

Hi March. Welcome to the site. Look forward to discussing with you
  21. Oh I saw that in the shops when it came out and meant to get it. I might add it to the wish list.
  22. That's on my shelf too. I think I'm going to read it next (when I eventually finish The Stand).
