  1. I recently read this because it's a Carnegie nominee, and we're reading them in book club at school. It is fantastic!! It is about this boy who thinks fate is out to get him and he tries to change his whole identity to hide from him. It's really strange but VERY good!
  2. Welcome to the gang!
  3. You are completely welcome - I never miss a chance to mention/recommend those books!! They're fab!
  4. You'd probably like the Gift , The Riddle and The Crow trilogy by Alison Croggon then! You've basically just described them! There's a further two to come out in that series as well.
  5. Can you/how do you add choices?
  6. Let's just not bother with classifying books and just stick to reading them:lol:
  7. :lol:We're a gang of evil chav/goth/emos with asbos who go around terrorrising kids (and adults) and keep getting sent to prison and slitting our wrists and saying ++ Still like the idea of being in the gang?:friends0:ahh, I'm only joking
  8. Hi and welcome to the madhouse!
  9. Hello and welcome. Dive straight in, we don't bite... Well, I can't speak for Kell, she's a vampire and makes no promises she won't keep!

    Hello!

    Hello and welcome
  14. Thanks for responding so quickly - it was like, instantaneous!! I went for fantasy, sci-fi, animal and adventure.
  15. I don't know if/how you can add a poll onto an existing thread, so I started a new one.
  16. Kell, I think you just hit the nail right on the head. It is really hard to catagorise a book into a particular genre because of all the different elements in books. As another example, my english teacher said that sci-fi must be set in the future, but Dr Who is (well, predominantley (sp?)) sci-fi, and that isn't always in the future. I think it would be more accurate to say that it must have some futuristic elements, eg the TARDIS, or the sonic screwdriver. Or, Artemis Fowl. Is that fantasy or sci-fi?
  17. I pretty much do the same as you. Except in the bath I have one of those wire shelf things you put across to put your soap in, so I put the towel on it to protect the book and hold it with one or two hands (or sometimes none, actually, they sometimes keep themselves open). It depends on my mood and the book.
  18. Fantasy is one of my favourite genres.
  19. Ooops! Sorry!B)
  20. Hey!! I also love wolves, and I think the Old Kindom Series (Sabriel/Lirael/Abhorson/Creature in the Case) were just WRITTEN for me!!:lol:I LOVE them! Admin Edit: Images removed. Please see this thread.. http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=2933 Here are some cute wolf pics! Have you read Wolf Brother and the others? They're really good!

    Hello!

    Hi and welcome!B)
  23. 1: I LOVE writing stories but can never think of any ideas. 2: I LOVE Dr Who and books and McFly. 3: I am TERRIFIED of spiders, heights and bridges. 4: I am 14 and I have just FINISHED my KS3 SATs - YAY! 5: UMM...I like going on the internet and couldn't live without my MP3...you can even put audio books on them; what could be better?
  24. We read...I can't remember what it was called now...it was smash, I think. I can't remember who wrote it either!! Then we read a Dracula play, then we read Face then next we're gonna read Stone Cold.
  25. I absolutely never, never, never write in my books. I very occaisionly write my name and form in the front of a book I have to take to school, but only if I have to leave it there for a day or two. I hardly ever even write in those books you're supposed to, or annuals, or even magazines!! I'm not sure what it is, I can just never bring myself to ruin them. I also have to keep the spines on books perfect - I just can't bear it when I open it too far by mistake and break the spine.
